4 goals in 28 appearances so far for Oxford. Sounds like he'd fit right in here.

I'm struggling to see what he brings to be honest. At his age he should've been a regular starter somewhere. I've no idea why he was brought back in the first place, let alone given a new deal. He showed nothing before or after lockdown to say he's going to be an asset. He's bang average at best and can count himself lucky to get this last chance. I hope he proves me wrong but this smacks of the Anderson deal last season for me.

How do you know Bogles in our price range, as I've posted Jordy Hiwula would be a striker I would hope we could sign, out of work , pace lad something we dont possess, yet Stuart says he wants too much, I'm not sure what our what our price range is.
I just dont think the man to get us double figures goalwise is Omar Bogle.

I haven’t followed this thread recently; simply because it is all repetitive shite; however, can we clarify one thing?

Only Henderson out of the list of players McCall mentions, turned us down due to financial reasons. The rest were either geographical reasons, or they simply did not want to ply their trade in L2 - Bogle falls into that latter bracket.

Think Bogle will hold out for L1 money, as will all the big name free agents until nearer the end of the window. Dont think Bogle would be any worse than what we have, big lad but has a bit more pace that the ones we have, but he would want Vaughan money.

Been in 82 games for 6 clubs since leaving Grimsby in Jan 2017, only 42 starts and 15 goals in that spell. Never really held down a starting spot anywhere, but last time he was in L2 he got 19 in 25 starts so can see why other clubs are taking a look. Don't think he's worth the big money games for any L2 clubs for anything more than a 1 year deal. Lives in Bristol too, so cant imagine he fancies that drive up north.

I'm presuming McCall didn't waste time speaking with the strikers mentioned if they didn't want to travel or drop to league 2 as these are details that the agent would clearly have known about. Looks like we need to be more specific when telling agents what our search criteria is, rather have a player that actually wants to be here than someone who signs as a last resort because his other options haven't materialised yet.

I never mentioned Bogles financial demand my original comment was with regards his his goal scoring and how long ago it was that he scored them, besides the fact that we all ready have players who play his roll in the team.

Apologises I've just read Stuart's comments with regards Jordy Hiwula and he did state it was not money but other things.

I don't have a clue what finances Stuart has at his disposal, but signing Bogle would be a poor signing, looks like you are suggesting we've been in touch with Bogle, thank God its in the latter bracket missed a bullet there IMO.

Why has Bogle been having talks with Grimsby if he doesn't want to play in league 2, or move from Bristol, as someone else said.

I think if the financial package is right most players would drop to league 2

I’m going to use the dreaded ambition word again.
For the players who didn’t want to drop down why didn’t we offer them a decent wage at this level and say our aims are to get into league 1?
It feels as if we just asked once and then gave up.
And if there is still money in the pot-why not spend a little to sign someone? Doesn’t have to be a free transfer. Or unsettle the player and get their own team to pay them off-City style!

As @Bradford End@Bradford End quoted no one apart from Henderson turned us down because of finacial reasons, you have to assume the likes of Jordy Hiwula still lives in the Coventry area with them being his last club.

Or the man who scouted and signed Charlie Wyke? I'm not actually saying we should hire Abbo as Head of Recruitment. My question was, simply, would we better-off now if he had been Head of Recruitment for the last 6 months vs. what we currently have?

    According to the EFL ..

    League 2 Average wage £68,000

    League 1 Average wage £100,000

Based on the EFL figures, I can fully understand why players would turn us down and prefer to ply their trade in League 1. Or maybe their reason wasn't a financial one? ;)

My take on Bogle was he made an impression early
doors (at FGR?) but since then he's moved around
but hasn't stepped up so interest is not what it was.

If we are going to get a striker, lets try get one with
a goal scoring record or at least the potential for one.
