Also not to mention if it's true we have 400k left in the budget, then saving that for January with only a 3rd of the season left to pay wages for, even a 3k pw player is only going to be 50k ish til end of season and we not likely to sign anyone like that, so it's crazy with such a weak squad currently.

Did take a look at how hes done at Newport, he is young at 21 which is needed up front imo. It looks like hes slowly been getting first team experience at newport as last year he had the number 15 now is the number 11. Also scored a brace against a weakend swansea side. Hes not proven but is worth the risk. If true.

Finally, a rumor! Although this page has before said we were signing the lad from Boreham Wood, Will Atkinson and said it was between us and Wimbledon for Spearing.....

Abrahams started their cup game against Swansea at the weekend, scoring 2. Only 21, looks like he's got a bit of pace in him, not the tallest bloke.

Last season, scored 10 in 46 appearances in all comps with a goal every 265 minutes. Only completed a game 10 times, came off the bench 18 times. Looks like him, Jamille Matt and Padraig Amond rotated with none of the 2 getting a long run in the side.

Under contract for another year and under 21 so won’t come in their cap. Won’t happen

Flynn has said he will play in the championship soon. He’s not going for cheap. Mark this one down as absolutely no chance

    That's very thoughtful of him.

Puts our pizza incident into perspective I guess.

We really need 'oven ready' rather than 'half baked' I'd be thinking. ;)

I can think of one person occupying a very influential position who doesn't know the difference between the two!

More 'Stuart speak' in todays T&A, no need to 'dive in' for additions - they just dont help themselves at times! As a mate just said when he called me ' as we havent signed anyone for 7 weeks we are hardly bloody diving in!'

I think there's a difference between "budget" and "salary cap". Given the way the cap was introduced, with pre-Aug 8th contracts only counting as an average wage under the cap, we may well have room within the cap but could already have a wage bill of circa £2m. Given it looks increasingly unlikely fans will be allowed in soon, and that season ticket sales are down, the club must be budgeting for a lot lower income this season which will lead to a lower wage budget. My gut tells me we're being cautious as we're already at our budget, despite being under the cap.

We can’t be anywhere near 2million surely.
We let about 10 players go i the summer? And vaughan has now gone too. our budget last season was told be around 2.6 million.
how can vaughan and the other players released only account for 600k of it?

edit - let’s use Vaughan as an example. I’m saying he was on 3k a week and possibly more. Let’s use 3 for a round figure. That’s 156k for his wages alone last season. How can the rest of the players released fit into the 450k that’s left?

Ive seen this mentioned elsewhere that we are over 2million budget wise. I find this very hard to believe, players have been brought in on reduced salaries and just look at the list of players that have been let go. I'm all for a bit of caution in the present climate but there is no way we are over 2 million with the budget.

I'm not even sure we're dipping our toes in to test the water yet!

That said, (and I've been critical of the way we've gone about or not gone about our business so far), but I'm starting to think it could be a very shrewd move by the club, given there are still so many uncertainties around what's happening.

I think common consensus was that last season's £2.6m playing budget was break-even. Projected income for this year must be roughly £1m lower due to fewer season tickets, matchday tickets (home and away) hospitality tickets etc. Therefore, in order to break-even again, the playing budget would have to be £1.6m ish. We'll be at that, or above, now. Any extra spend will have to come out of the owner's pocket unless we sell a youth player/Wood for decent money.

£2.7 million was quoted as last seasons wage budget. With the departure of players who were on big wages such as Akpan, Riley and Vaughan and the departures of Mellor, Robinson, Reeves, Henley, Gibson, Anderson, McCartan, Taylor and Devine and the return loans of Palmer, Devitt, Connolly, Middleton and McGee.
We've signed O'Donnell and Cooke back (reported on reduced terms), Clarke, Watt (undisclosed fee) and Sutton.
That tells me we are way below the 2.7 miilion of last season. I expect we will finish above the 1.5 million salary cap due to existing contracts but it won't be by much. The transfer of Vaughan was about recouping a big wage not sustainable in league as much as it was Vaughan wanting to leave.

You do not appear to have allowed for reduced commercial revenues, not that I could even hazard a guess at how much less they might be.
