Thanks. That doesn't add up to much of a change then!

When I heard it on the news earlier, it referred to lifting the restrictions other than in the 'inner city' area of Bradford. That list wouldn't equate to my definition of the inner city

It only gets more ridiculous. Half my estate has had restrictions lifted and half has not. If my house was 50 yards further up the road the restrictions would be different.

The people who don't give a toss will do as they please anyhow.

Combined with weak enforcement which is strange as I thought the council would be filling their boots with fine money as they did with litter dropping and parking fines.

The all or nothing demand by the council leader was sheer lunacy. The postcode map is the same day after day, a proposal should have been made to relax every ward under double figures then put all resources in those wards. Instead they come up with the idea of requestion the 4th highest area for cases in the UK to be completely removed from lockdown and then scratch they head when it fails.

France have 7,300 cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, the UK by comparison have 1,100.

That's the levels of March. I think the UK should not force quarantine on people returning, they should stop access to the UK from France is this continues, otherwise we will be back as we were in March.

I've seen a couple of anti Corona protests/marches happening, involving 1,000s. Seems to be A LOT of non believers coming out.

Not sure if it's none believers or it's simply people who don't agree with certain levels of restrictions.

I'm happy to wear a mask if it makes other people comfortable in a shop but I don't like it.
I however am dead against restrictions to meeting friends and family.

I've only been made aware of these events because a friend is in London. Haven't mainstream media covered this?

I think there is s debate to be had about the restrictions. It probably doesn't help that the people involved with the protests align themselves with David Icke and seem to be almost totally made up of the anti-5g, anti-vaxxer and pretty much anti anything portion if the community..

Lets genuinely have a debate about how much death we are willing to accept for our freedom. It's an uncomfortable one but without a vaccine its probably a necessary one. When one side is lead by people who go down the route of conspiracies rather than logic its almost pointless though as people won't listen to them.

There was a huge protest in Berlin too. Haven't seen any of this news/information via mainstream media.

I would like to know what the government think the current local restrictions are achieving or doing?
Stopping people meeting in houses will not suddenly stop the spread and is probably having zero impact in reducing the infection rate.

It's been reported that Akbars has had 7 staff test positive over the course of the last month but have continued to remain open. So much for not seeing family when restaurants are acting like this.

I don't get what you're saying to be honest.

I disease that is passed from one person to another by is not affected by meeting other people? Is that what you are saying?

Careful with Spanish numbers. They have a very odd reporting system, apparently, that does not correctly allocate headline numbers by date the way you might expect.

The more worrying figure is hospital admissions of 958 in media reports That compares with 200+ two weeks ago. That is an anomalously large increase compared to the 80%+ rise in cases in the first two weeks of August so I wonder if that is also a statistical oddity from them. I don't think there is any doubt Spain has a problem and has seen higher new cases and a (comparatively) modest rise in deaths but different sources are giving very different numbers and it should be noted that deaths rose a bit in early August yet strangely fell last week from a 7-day average of 32 to 23 after a period of 8 weeks of strongly rising new cases. It's all very odd.

Look at deaths in the link below and you see Spain's deaths are trending way below levels in wave 1 compared to reported cases. Either figures are all screwed up or Covid mortality has dropped dramatically.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/spain/

The same was seen in Belgium, though - a significant wave 2 of infections produced far lower wave 2 of deaths

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/belgium/

Then look at Portugal where 350 new cases per day in early July produced only 3 deaths per day in early August after wave 1 was 30+ from 700+.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/portugal/

Netherlands wave 2 peak - 650 infections. Wave 2 deaths peaked at only 5. First wave peaks were 150 deaths from 1100 infections.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/netherlands/

UK infections more than doubled in the last 6 weeks from 500+ to 1000+. Deaths are down from 35 to 10 in the same time.

Irelands daily new cases rose from about 10 at the end of June to 30 at the end of July to about 120 now. Deaths have fallen from 2 to zero most days as new cases rose over 10-fold. What does that say?

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/ireland/

Switzerland new cases have gone from 17 to 55 to 150 to 300 in the last 3 months. Deaths have gone from 2 to 1 to 1 to 1. New cases up massively. Deaths down.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/switzerland/

Sweden's doubled new cases from end of May to end of June saw deaths fall from 39 to 19 in June and then to 2 in July.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/sweden/

Headline swab test figures are simply not correlating with deaths any more. I'm not sure they ever did. Why keep scaring everyone with reports of rising infections if deaths do not rise anything like as much, sometimes don't rise, and often keep falling? New cases seem to have no predictive power and mortality rates seem to keep tumbling. France and Spain may have significant deaths or not. New case figures are not a reliable predictor, it seems, so we'll just have to wait and see.

They think it is to do with increasing testing, plus young ppl being infected. You obviously wouldn’t get the same level of hospitalisation or death rate in this group. There was another component as well, but I can’t remember.
