How about we look to buy back the stadium with the excess. It is a constant moan from many on here that we don't own any assets.
Er...is Bradford City a business? Yes. Does Stefan Rupp own it? Yes. Is it his money at risk if it all goes under? Yes. So if it makes money why shouldn't he be entitled to it? Not withstanding that he can choose to reinvest some or all...grow the business you might say, whatever way you look at it it is his choice. It is his money at risk if it goes wrong and it is his money if it makes a profit.

If you bought a business from someone, risked your money, maybe your house, your savings, to own it and it made a profit would you take some of that profit? Damn right you would. So why should someone who owns a football business be any different?

I am sure that when Lawn and Rhodes were running the club, they stated that commercial and sponsorship deals paid the rent and other costs, and the season ticket money went to the playing budget.I am sure that Roger Owen will be able to confirm or deny that.

I know that, but that's the point I have raised. People are saying that the salary cap won't leave us with any money as we have to cover all the overheads. We were already covering them with the other income streams. So now we are in a position where the outgoings on players will be circa 1m less than the income from ticket sales. What are the club going to use that surplus for? I understand it's a business and it's his money when all is said and done but it doesn't sit right with me if he is pocketing it and not investing it in the future of the club.

I suppose we were paying back Mark Lawn's loan under the previous owners but, like him or loathe him, he was a local lad and a lifelong fan. It somehow seems different to be paying back Rupp, a man with no interest in Bradford or even football, who bought the club with the specific intention of making money.

Why doesn't it sit right with you?

He isn't a charity so if he took 90% and left 10% in thats OK. Actually it is all his so I can't argue if he didn't put anything back in. It's not my company. I would think it was a pretty short sighted strategy but hey, as they say, you pays your money, you takes your choice.

What astounds me is that nobody has this argument with the owner of local pub, theatres or music venues, cinemas, the petrol station owners, JCT 600 etc etc. We all understand they take a risk, they make a profit, they take the profits as dividends etc.

Right now, financially, it looks like a one way street. We don't want to pay anymore but expect Stefan to put more in.

Pomfret Bantam. You are looking at this as a 'club' of which you are a member when in fact this is a business, an entertainment business, and you have bought tickets to see some of the shows they put on. Ultimately from a business perspective that is the top and bottom of the relationship.

It might not sit well with some who think £149 is the norm, but in a business sense you have to rinse your customers for every penny you can get. And football is primarily a business. Asking £149 for season tickets and then expecting Rupp to pick up the slack has some brass neck about it.

Fully understand that, its his toy and he can do with it what he likes. On the back of that it's my money that I am paying to support his business, if I am not seeing something from that then I am not interested. Like you say my local landlord doesn't ask me for handouts, I pay my money and I get my drink. Then every so often he uses the money he has earned through providing a service to update his facilities. If I go to the pictures to watch a film they do the same and every other type of leisure industry does, otherwise they fail eventually. We only have to think back a couple of weeks and this same business was asking people to leave the money that they had paid for a service that hadn't been provided as it would cause them some difficulty otherwise. They are also doing the same at this moment with season tickets, please buy one even though you won't get watch even half the games but we need you to support the club, well really if it's his business and he can do what he wants he should be saying " you can't get in yet so don't worry about it, I have it covered. As soon as fans are physically allowed to attend we will sell tickets on a pro rata so you don't have to pay for what you haven't had". How does that sound ? Not as appealing i guess as us mugs paying for a service we are clearly not getting.

Strange attitude we pay money because we want to go and watch our team you know the one we support the one that will be here long after Rupp isn’t
And we won’t be buying £150 tickets half the price of most rivals to help the club but to see the team in these difficult times. The club like a lot of others could have put tickets on sale weeks ago to help the club city didn’t in fact they are still not back on sale.

So, forgive me because I must have missed the announcement, but which league 2 club owners are doing this?

I am all for supporting my club and I know I am probably sounding negative right now, I haven't got a problem with paying whatever the going rate is, as I have done previously. My issue is that he isn't a lifelong fan trying to do well, he is a business man who bought the club to make profit. Now I am happy to see him make profit from the club but In return I expect to see him strengthen and grow the club and there is no clear proof that he is trying to do that. All we keep hearing is he is funding the club but that is his absolute minimum requirement. We keep losing players and not replacing them with a similar or higher ability and that doesn't shout strengthening to me.
I don't support other clubs and what they do or don't do is of no consequence to me. I imagine none of them are but I bet they are doing the best they can in the circumstances.

Only thing I would say on Rupp is if we had not been so badly mismanaged in the last 3 years and lost so much money it would have been nice to have used the mcburnie money for something more worthwhile than filling the void left by Rahic.
But I guess he bought the club and has the right to that sell on as the owner. Just very frustrating all that money, which we may never see the likes of in one season for a long time is gone

Yeah there is a strong feeling of frustration that the clubs best ever transfer windfall will never actually benefit the club other than to settle previous misdemeanors.

    Exactly right.

You don’t like the product don’t buy it. You wouldn’t keep buying pints at a pub where the beer was off!

Don’t pay in advance for a product that you can clearly see is unlikely to be delivered. You wouldn’t pay in advance for your beer if you thought the pub was likely to go back into lockdown!

None of this is rocket science. Simples really.

Oh and I think that Mr Rupp has over the past couple of years put money into the club when at the time it might have been viewed that there was a very good likelihood that he was going to struggle to get it back and if he did it would simply be what he put in therefore it costs him money.

Being completely frank if I owned Bradford City I would cut my losses and dump it to the first idiot who I managed to convince that what they could own was a ‘Sleeping Giant’.

I go, I cheer, I buy tickets and merch but I am a realist in that I understand that we are in general a 3rd or 4th division team and, generally, will remain that way.

Why would anyone inject significant funds into Bradford City? What suggests from our last 100 years that there is the appetite for that in Bradford?

There is no money to be made at Bradford City. The best any owner can hope for is that they don’t have to put their hand in their pocket too often or that we break even/small profit.

We tick over as we have done since 1903.

Life is better when you recognise these things.

    Hope is the real killer.
