Not necessarily. We could you use it to sign a player who is under 21.

I would have thought 13 clubs and 19 moves, would have been data that I would have taken into consideration.

And he wanted out, what don't you understand he was not prepared to give the new manager a chance, only one conclusion from that scenario bye bye James, it doesn't matter how well he does at Tranmere he does not want to play for Bradford City, and my club means more to me than some journey man.
You don't like facts do you, they are all clubs he's played for in the past fact.

What happens when they hit 22?

If we signed someone who was 21, on a three year Contract, could we pay over £68,000 per season.

Devise a Contract, which is dependent on performance, if successful, then it could be a ‘rolling one’ and be based on the original under 21 terms?

Trying to be creative (strictly within the rules you know).

How about a three year deal with all the wages before they are over 21 and then NMW only after?

It is my understanding that a player who is given a contract whilst under 21, is not counted in the £1.5m cap, for the length of that contract.

Anything beyond that would depend on the detail (and possibly the spirit) of the terms of the cap.

I suspect we may not be the best club for finding loopholes. We got well and truly done over the Mark Stewart (23 or 24 years old rule) transfer and we even got fined by the Football League for substituting a player after a minute or two in that silly trophy competition, not because we broke the rules, but because we broke the spirit of the rules. Let someone else try stretching the rules first.

Vaughan was always a gamble, his attitude and injury record. What I cannot understand unless it is not allowed - why was he not just transferred on a free, and we have inserted in his contract payments for his goals, appearances and if Tranmere got promoted?
I accept he was going to go - but the way City are dealing with transfer windows and the handling if outgoing players by then not having replacements or bringing inferior ones in - leaves a lot to desired. We never appear to be negotiating from a position of strength when players in demand leave.

Where has the pride we once had gone?

Rhodes and more so Rupp have allowed a number of players to take the p*&s out of our club.

Offering rediculous contracts to Akpan, O’Connell, Vaughan, Doyle, Riley, only for said players to either hang around and run down their contracts, or sulking to get a move away at a massive cost to the club.

The uncertainty about ownership and the CEO is not helping. We are drifting without a rudder. It’s time the club grew a pair and refused to be pushed around by has been oldies or even worse, young upstarts.

Stuart is hopefully beginning to right the wrongs of the last 4 years. Now for an ownership/CEO team to get us back on track and put some pride back into the club.

Was he a scouser?, just confirms never trust a scouser.

Wonder if we will see longer contracts again to offset lower wages

McCall on the radio, "no clubs are paying fees, there's no money in football."

Bradford City sign Elliott Watt from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

Vaughan can do one. Perfect example of why footballers are seen as arrogant mercenaries.
The bigger question is why did city as a professional organisation allow the cap deadline to pass when they had a major asset on the books wanting away. Now we lose our top scorer and we can’t replace with a like for like due to the cap. Either our scouting network had an ace up its sleeve or we are left with our pants round our ankles. Sadly After how the last couple of seasons have played out it appears amateurish and the latter. Normally I’m one Who will try and take the positives from any such situation but this stinks of Inexperience or there’s a different agenda being played out beneath the surface. Today is a sad day to be a City fan. Not because Vaughan has left. But because of the misinformation coming from the club prior to his exit.

"mutual consent" taken at face value, people thinking this means City paid him off a little to get his wages off the bill. But as some other poster mentioned, it doesn't always mean that. Left field (optimist) now. Vaughan desperate to leave, Tranmere offering no fee to us, City say "nah mate, you can rot in the reserves and travel over every day until contract runs out OR you can pay back the signing on fee we gave you last year, and we will let you GTFO back to the west and live off their offer". Damn, have I been drinking? Anyway, point is that "Mutual" means it was agreeable to both parties, just seems most on here think it was heavily weighted in his favour. It probably was but probably is not definitely.

We also wouldn’t let Vaughan go without compensation. This stated 2 weeks ago, and we knew he wanted to go all along, yet both Ryan and Stuart were adamant he wouldn’t be going anywhere.

If the club want to regain the trust of the fans, then stop lying and treat us all as adults and not impressionable kids.

The bookies are thick, just like our fans. They think 15000 fans means promotion. That's why I'm massively in profit and the "can't bet against my own club" claptards continue to "enjoyably lose".
