It's a definite no from me
Thought these things had to be tested for years before being classed as safe

I would for sure, the risk of side effects is probably about the same as complications from catching the virus itself to me. I'd rather take a risk on a vaccine than take a risk catching the virus

That's what it will be like for many people. Weighing up the side effect possibilities against the possible virus complications. I'd imagine those who are most at risk from COVID (the elderly in particular) would take the vaccine.

The problem is that in 5 or 6 years time it could come out that side effects include increased risk of lung cancer or fertility issues or something similar, so to a healthy 18 year old a vaccine is simply not worth the risk.

We're now getting the behaviour that the government were scared of before the initial lockdown. Willful noncompliance with the rules because people are judging their own risks.

Unless it’s accompanied with a curfew and the whole area is turned into a police state, then it’s fck all use.

Cummings is just a prime example of failure after failure but was a very public one. I’ve got a lot more don’t worry

As I've posted this pandemic is a disaster for the world last night someone from the WHO said there may not be a silver bullet and it may be something we have to live with.
A terrible prospect for the world, but more so for the third world countries, we keep getting told how well this or that country has done with regards protecting their population Austraila being a prime example, then it flares up.
Not sure we can control the virus until we get a vaccine and if we cant God help the world it will be far different to what we have known in the past.

I don't want to get into the Cummings discussion. It becomes completely political and even ignores that the police said that any breaking of the rules was extremely slight, not even worthy of a fine.

However, if a whole country wants to put themselves at risk because of a guy who 80% probably didn't know 5 months ago and 15% of the remainder don't like. Then that shows the mentality of people. Grasping for excuses.

People need to start adhering to the rules. The second wave is coming and with the criticism of the government delaying the first time I don't think you'll see them taking any chances.

It is quite amusing to read that people are complainint at the speed of the lock down and local lock downs etc yet they are the same people that complained that the government didn't move fast enough.

I posted many months ago how devastating this virus could be with regards many poorer countries mentioning India as an example, https://www-ndtv-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.ndtv.com/india-news/coronavirus-india-live-updates-nearly-53-000-covid-19-cases-in-india-in-last-24-hours-august-4-2020-2273655?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&amp=1&akamai-rum=off&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=15965336214060&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ndtv.com%2Findia-news%2Fcoronavirus-india-live-updates-nearly-53-000-covid-19-cases-in-india-in-last-24-hours-august-4-2020-2273655.
When you see figures like this and then see figures and comments coming out out of the likes of China and Russia are they true figures, are we working together sharing information Russia saying they have a caccine and are going to start rolling it out the first to receive the vaccine being health workers and teachers.
I can see the logic in both but get it wrong and it could be devastating for both proffesions, could they be that advanced with regards a vaccine when most other countries say it will be the end of the year at best.

I don’t understand what those figures mean? 18.5 lakh Mark? What’s that?

We only have to look at a country like Vietnam. A third world country but know how to deal with virus outbreaks with SARS, dengue fever etc in recent years. They act swiftly and don’t mess about with testing or tracking people. Just 8 deaths in a population of 91 million. A very poor country But who are experienced in this field. We must learn from Asia. No matter what you or others think of numbers. They know how to deal with it. The western world either through stubbornness or bad governments do not

It's slightly easier to enforce restrictions in a country such as Vietnam though and also arguably more difficult to truly capture the death data.

That's not to say they've done a bad job, they certainly haven't, but you wouldn't get the anti-lockdown protects we've seen in Australia and Germany is a country like Vietnam. The expectations and compliance of the population are simply different.
