Bolton & Macclesfield have always paid their players. They might not be on time but they get paid eventually
Footballers are actually secured creditors if a club goes bust, It's EFL policy. HMRC actually took the football league to court and lost this actual ruling about 10 yeras ago.

Previously the PFA have paid wages of various clubs in the past, but again if any monies came into the club they were paid back or if a club was then sold the buyers took on that debt and paid back accordingly. If a club is sold whilst under a PFA debt, a transfer embargo will be held against that club. So any new owners always paid that debt to enable them then to bring in players.

 

Don't know if this has been covered anywhere but, assuming this salary cap comes in, could clubs pay higher loan fees rather than paying the wages of loanees? If a prem/champ club have a lad on, say, 5k per week, could we pay them a loan fee equivalent to his annual wage and they keep paying his wages? I'm thinking this might be a way around the salary cap and makes loans more attractive than permanent signings? I'm not saying I'd want us to do that but it might be a loophole?

Stuart's £100 comment is very naive. Edin made a very similar comment once and was rightly slaughtered for it. What player, with no connection to Bradford City, is going to take less money, especially in today's climate, to play at Valley Parade? The answer is very few, if any.

 

So , players wont come to VP if wages are low ?, perhaps they can earn more playing part time or on UC ? . We are not the only club in this position , the days of the journey man footballers are numbered . We've signed enough of these down the years , They reckon there will be 1000 players unable to find clubs in the upcoming season . What are they going to do ?, it's time players and agents realised that not all of them are championship or PL standard and are in Lge 1 / 2 teams for a reason . And the fact the ITK posters on here predicting monetary problems and lack of signings are only speculating , the only people who do know are the club . I would'nt expect the management at VP want to reveal there budget or wages . What would be the point signing players now and either paying their wages or putting them on furlough ? .
