The Ghost is an interesting read. Harris apparently is a big mate of Tony Blair so it would be anybody's guess what TB made of the novel. I won't say any more!

Reading Gazza’s second autobiography Being Gazza (2007). He talks about the chairman at Kettering when he was given the managers job, I had to check it wasn’t Edin! Almost carbon copy behaviour. Poor Gazza. Makes it even worse knowing this was written 13 years ago and he’s been on a downward spiral ever since. I saw a pic of him last week, and he looks in bits. If he catches CV, I’d say his chances are slim sadly.

I'm reading Winston Churchill's World War 2, Volume 1 - I bought 11 of the 12 books from a charity shop for 50p each, bargain, haven't actually checked which one is missing though!

Churchill sets out the post-WW1 scene very compellingly, but the tit-for-tat politics in the UK, Europe and the wider world is a bit of a dull read at times as bad decision after bad decision slowly allows Germany to rearm while the rest of the world intentionally disarm, while forcing everybody else (except Germany) to do the same.

Looking forward to getting past the snippets of speeches that fell on deaf ears and seeing how things panned out.

Any of you read the Peter James "Roy Grace" novels? I've worked my way through them all (15 or so). Apparently they are making a tv version of the first two. Hopefully will be a good adaption.

I read most of them but got a bit fed up in the end, all seemed a bit repetitive.
Most TV versions don't seem to be as good as the books, Inspector Banks and Rebus spring to mind, although hard to translate a 400 page book to 90 mins TV.

Just finished reading Chris Patten's memoir First Confession. Fascinating in parts, especially his time as a Minister for Northern Ireland and as the last Governor of Hong Kong.

Moving into William Boyd's The New Confessions now.

Unfortunately, I've not got a Robin Askwith book to keep the theme going.

Bill Browder - Red Notice, How I became Putins No.1 enemy

A fascinating biography that reads like a political thriller about the Grandson of the former leader of Americas Communist Party, who went to become one of America's most successful Hedge Fund Managers, but in Russia.

Its the story of how he was expelled from Russia after speaking out about corruption in Russian and the fight for justice for his lawyer friend who was tortured and murdered by Putin's henchmen.

The author fears that eventually he will be become another victim of Putin's way of silencing so called traitors to the country

How, just finished reading two by him. One after the other. “Churchill’s secret warriors” which I really enjoyed. The second was “Nazi hunters” which was also a good read. Probably preferred the first. For those that haven’t read them - essentially all based around the SAS/SBS.
