Out of Contract Players

Not our problem, up to them to find a new contract they are happy with.

 

Let them all go barring Donaldson I'd say, there all rotten to the core. CD experience in the side and being local could help us along just like Akinfenwa has done over the years, but all the rest good riddance.

 

Donaldson is a little old, don't you think?

 

I'm not talking about giving him a 3yr contract but I'd definitely keep him around for next season.

 

I’d see about keeping Riley, dependant on what he earns. Possibly Reeves aswell if he’d stay, and McCartan but I can’t say I’d be absolutely gutted if none of them stayed.

Based on SM's comments when he came in to the club about the size of the playing staff, I would doubt any will be offered new contracts. And if any are it would only be a couple.
I'm sure SM said he prefers a smaller squad but better quality players.
There's plenty of dross n this squad. We couldn't strip the player rosta down last summer because of Rahic's insane contracts. But we can have a real good clear out this time and build the team up from scratch

What’s with the City fans’ obsession with players being local? Liverpool seem to be doing well with only the odd scouser, Man City are hardly full of locals, the 2012/13 team at City didn’t have many Bradford lads and I don’t think West Brom are over flowing with yam yams in their first team.

We have 36! It is far too big, 24 would be ample but we might have to do with less than that if we want more quality. I don’t believe SM has said that the board has not backed him, unless you know otherwise. Certainly Rahic and Rupp didn’t in his last season but that is another story altogether!

 

Far from obsessed pal more just putting it in there as a bonus, I'd keep him regardless of where he was from.

 

I'd look at keeping O'Donnell. Riley would have to prove his worth before the end of the season. I can't see anymore being offered a new contract. The majority of that list either don't currently get in the squad and are injured more than fit.

Rip it up and start again. Again!!

 

If Riley can show any sort of promise like he did in pre season before his injury he would be a plus compared to Henley and Mellor. He's not going to get a better opportunity to stake a claim with the current standard of the right backs playing currently.

 

Would only keep O’Donnell and maybe McCarten, make Cooke a permanent, rest have underachieved including Reeves. We already have 2 contracted strikers next season in Novak and Guthrie and I’m certain Vaughan will be sent back from Tranmere so if we keep Donaldson then that’s 4 striker births taken up and we need McCall to have room in squad to get at least 1 striker in. So Donaldson would go for me. I would expect Nicky Law and Luke Hendrie to be the 1st summer signings.

 

Get rid of Vaughan, decide on Guthrie and then see if it's worth having Donaldson in the squad.

Nicky Law - not for me. He'll be 32 by the summer and as much as I rated him a few years ago I'm not sure I'd want him back (I know some will compare him with Gary Jones and the age thing but he isn't a Gary Jones)

 

Why would Law come here when he's most likely going to be playing League 1 football instead? Will Hendrie really want to leave Grimsby where he's a guaranteed starter and playing for a manager who will bring them success next season? We need fresh blood and new ideas, I wouldn't want either back. The ex player comfort blanket rears it's ugly head again. Are we some sort of clinic for second chances?

 

He loves playing under McCalls management, I wouldn’t bring him back but I expect McCall to do so. So blame McCall when he returns not me as I wouldn’t have many of our exes back.
