I've answered this a thousand times already on this forum, but I get not everyone reads every post, so I'll say it one more time:

The reason we couldn't persist with Bowyer was the style of football was utterly unwatchable, the negativity surrounding away trips to Oldham and the like was embarrassing, the fans generally hated the guy, and there is literally no point persisting with a manager who is only going to perfect his Bowyer-ball to the chagrin of the fans - promotion or no promotion.

Bowyer wasn't sacked because of the results. We didn't lose that many. He was sacked because the fans said "NO THANK YOU" to what he could offer.

Stuart offers a style far easier on the eye, more attacking, less defensive, but not necessarily any better.

But you aren't going to get something infinitely better when you've got Bowyer's players who have been trained all season to played Bowyer's way. There is no magician going to come in and instantly fix things. Like Crewe, Swindon and Exeter, IT TAKES TIME.

The fans did not want to give Bowyer that time, he was the wrong man with the wrong style.

The threat of plummeting attendances sacked Bowyer.

I believe "those teams" do want to beat us more, the fact
is,this is a poor league and our points total at home reflects
that rather than we are good at home. Our away form is
diabolical for any team with promotion aspirations.

Stuart retired from playing a good while ago (he's 55) so
you won't risk being disappointed not watching him.

Does he owe you money or something?

So who would you have appointed instead of SM and why would you expect that they could get a tune out of this current squad.

as previously said to @How@How (i think it was), that depends on who else wanted the job - but the club didn't allow anyone to even apply, let alone put forward their case in an interview.

Without going too much into it - the weather and the conditions certainly played a part. Training ground out of action, horrible wind and rain. Yep it disrupted us and made it difficult.

However, McCall and the team will simply have to learn to deal with bad conditions better, we live in England, it happens plenty.

They got a lot of applications, they said so, but the initial idea was Stuart and obviously nobody was interesting enough to change their minds.

Doesn't look like conditions for training are going to be much better this coming week with lots of heavy rain and strong winds forecast, but like you say, it's not unusual this time of year and cannot be used as an excuse.

Yeah I get that but I asked who the poster wanted as manager to balance out the conversation.
It would have to be someone above "bang average", which would whittle the list down somewhat.

Would it have counted? He was about 2 yards offside and he probably knew it. You can see MH try adjust his run to stay onside but it deflects to Novak who is in front of him.

Were talking about his shot ?, I would have thought the linesman would have flagged, but the referee gave us a corner I believe so the goal would have counted , I'm not having a go we have seen similar many times this season and in many cases paid dearly.
That goes in we win the game.

You neatly drew a line at the top three. Ryan Lowe took over at Plymouth (who beat Crewe on Saturday) on 5th June 2019. They have a game in hand on Crewe and Exeter, which if they win, then they will go second. So Lowe has had far less time than those you name. They were relegated from League One last season, as well as City.

Having said that, I agree that 12 days is far too short a time, to judge Stuart!

Funny though that Plymouth and Swindon have a Sporting/football director

Think Crewe do and others in div 2z

I fear for McCall and the club if we don't appoint one and it's just McCall thinking he can do it all on his own. The club won't progress at all.

I didn't look any further, I didn't ignore Plymouth on purpose - Ryan Lowe is obviously doing well this season, and like Bowyer, has had two transfer windows to conduct his business.

But with Exeter, Crewe and Swindon, all three were League Two sides that have been improved upon. Hard to guarantee Plymouth have improved, since they were extremely unlucky to be relegated having finished on the same points as two other clubs.

Plymouth should have started this season as favourites based on last season's table.

    Unlike us, I might add.

I believe we need a Director of Football as Rhodes and Rupp are not in that mould at all.

If Stuart fails, we'll just appoint another random guy who looks okay on paper but in reality will have almost nothing in keeping with our players and what we've been asking them today.

Todd taking over from Robson was probably the last time we made a truly logical appointment.

Agree you only need to look at Rhodes appointment patterns of manager to understand we need one plus Rupp and Rhodes are clueless when it comes to football & creating an identity.

Football clubs have them now and we need one urgently.

It's a bit silly they'll appoint people to deal with communication, but not actually football.

    Strange.
