Wood's corners are much better than Reeves imo, and what he tried with McCarten last night almost resulted in another goal and should definitely be something they work on in training and try again. I think McCall has said he hasnt had time yet to work on set pieces with the players in training, but think once he does, this is definitely an area we can capitalise on.

I never understand these types of comments, 'yeah, but apart from scoring the two goals that won us the game, what did he actually do?' I mean FFS, what do you actually want from him!!!!!

He'd still be pushing for a start at RB in this squad even if his legs have gone ;).

    Helped get Lincoln promoted..

For me the lad 'should have been playing every game'.

He's a League Two footballer, it's that simple. Out of his depth last year, found his level again this.

Stuart’s legs were gone back in 2001 according to Jim Jefferies but even now he wouldn’t look out of place in our current midfield.

Yes he certainly proved Jefferies wrong allowing him to leave then going to Sheffield United and playing over 70 games for them, Neil Warnock offering him the assistants job at United, maybe unlike Paul Jewell, Jefferies thought Stuart might be a threat.

I know he's blown hot and cold and his not taking opportunities had really frustrated me in his time at city. But so have others, and Stuart can only work with the squad he has now. I think he needs to start and get a proper run of games.

He's one of the only players at the club capable creating something from nothing. He has good close control (agree with the robbie Blake comparison although obviously at a much lower level). He also has a good shot on him and is an instinctive finisher. Even chances not converted he is generally on target and forces the save.

I know the opportunity for first goal on Tues was gifted by stevenage but hand on heart who else would've had the techinque to dispatch so clinically?

People saying he did nothing on Tuesday but score 2 goals really need to have a word with themselves. I would gladly take a player doing f all but score 2 goals as that's what wins you matches. That's pretty much what swindon fans say about Doyle and you don't hear them slating him.

Exactly - if he spurned those two chances, he'd still have had two of our best chances making him a threat. To finish both neatly is praiseworthy indeed!

I don't care what he does if he scores two.

Just like Swindon don't care what Doyle does when he scores.

I agree @Bantamshell@Bantamshell. I have been thinking for awhile he reminds me of Robbie Blake, same temperament as well! It was funny because I also think our new no.9 reminds me of Lee Mills;) now wouldn’t that be something if we could reproduce that duo in this league.

He's not good enough... his level is let's say Newport.

He scores two goals, misses a sittter but doesn't do anything else. So much so he couldn't even get his positioning right and McCall spent most of the game shouting at him.

Pleased he scored the games but we need better from a player we spent 250k on or whatever it was.

I get what your saying but from his 1st half display he could very easily have been subbed at half time he was that poor.

    I've re-read them. The only
Good god if we subbed everyone that played poorly in the 1st half we'd need a bigger subs bench and a rule change.

100% mate. Scores a few goals and people think he's Messi.

Overall he was poor. Yes he scored and took his goals well but if he would of been subbed at half time I wouldn't have been shocked.

You could say that about at least 7 or 8 other players in the first half. We were collectively poor, not sure why you are singling Shay out.

In this league, he's scored 22 in his last 74 matches, for teams that were not big on chance creation (Lincoln had a relatively low total number of goals given where they ended up, Accrington average and you know about us up to now)

That is patently good enough. Managers, need to do their job and get the best out of him and it's good to see that McCall has already sussed this

Yes, he's a bit of an awkward player to fit in and like everyone else that was the classic problem with the early Robbie Blake (my favourite player of all time) but that's the managers job to find a solution - like Jewell did with Blake, which if you remember took about 18 months

The other thing critics of Shay seem to ignore is that he has never really been given a proper run in the team. He has made a lot of appearances from the bench and has not been a consistent starter yet when he does play, people are writing him off if he doesn't score in the first five minutes of being on the pitch. I think he deserves a chance and should be a definite starter on Saturday.
