I fear that with this group of players even the play offs are almost beyond us ?. Going to take Miracle Worker to lift and drag us over that line. Boreyer should never have been allowed to oversee the transfer window ?

We know the home form has been better than the away this year so its imperative we pick up six points from the Grimsby and Stevenage games. That’d give us belief for the trip to a winnable game at Cambridge. Win that and show the players we can win away and overcome the negative mindset Bowyer created and then keep riding the wave. I’d snap your hand off for seventh right now.

Absolutely not. He will be an incredible effort if we get anywhere near but still a lot of points to play for. It’s been a bit topsy-turvy this season with clubs around us often dropping points. We have a very tough run in to the end for the season based on the clubs around us, however that gives us the chance take points away from them, leaving it our hands to go for it.

Tall order. At this stage unlikely. However start by getting back to winning ways and hopefully a manager who’s able to change things quickly and let’s see where we are after the next 3-4 games.

Probably too big an ask for the autos. Still a poor league so in theory play offs should be in reach but the post transfer window squad worries me. We've come out of it weaker and the problem of our central midfield is still there!
Hopefully though a more ambitious manager will galvanise the club and if we can build up some sort of momentum we could get on a roll.

The next 4 games will tell us a great deal, it is not a massive amount of time to work but with the new manager bounce and a less restrictive approach from our players - it is possible we could pick up 9/10 points.

This might be wishful thinking, but I certainly have more hope than I did Saturday evening.

I would bite your hand off for a play off finish right now though.

This season: Bowyer. He’s signed 20 players in total. It’s his squad and he’s been in charge for the bulk of the games.

Next season: McCall. With the amount of players we have out of contract he’ll have a chance to stamp his authority and build his own team. No excuses next season.

The fact that he's got almost a full week to work with the squad before the next game is also a massive bonus. If we hadn't got this appointment already lined up (and let's not kid ourselves that we didn't), we could have been spending this week interviewing some of the prospective candidates we were inundated with yesterday. That could have meant the new guy coming in right at the end of the week, or, worst case scenario, not starting until the week after and Drury taking change on Saturday

why? we don't have a manager at the moment with a track record of promotion or of going into a team halfway through a season and turning things around or someone who if a slump does occur has previously shown any indication that he knows how to reverse said slump.

    this is an appeasement appointment.

as the current manager of Bradford City, I'll back him until he no longer is but I won't give him anymore or any less leeway than others were or were not afforded.

I agree it's hardly bleeding rocket science. McCall has a free hit for 15 games, if he's here next season nad fails as badly as Bowyer it will be McCalls fault.

Why are you trying so hard to prove a point that no one else really sees? Everyone loves McCall and would love to see him achieve success. If he fails he fails, why does there have to be some sort of conspiracy with it? He's been appointed for two reasons, 1, because Rhodes thinks he can do a job as manager and 2, cos it was the easiest and less hassle appointment. Already has the number, bloke knows the club inside out and it means less work for Rhodes. No guarantee what the outcome will be bar it cannot be any worse than Boreyer ball.

only yesterday Ryan Sparks said the club had been inundated with contacts from applicants who were interested in the job. with managers such as Nathan Jones and Paul Tisdale available a serious club would have gone through the applicants and short-listed, interviewed, got an idea of what each type of manager wanted, the resources needed, the plan to develop the club and take us forward.. instead they've made a move to appease the majority of fans. it's clear on here and social media that not all would have had McCall as their first choice - in my opinion they've had him lined up, rushed it and not even taken anyone else into consideration even though there may have been better candidates out there. it screams of bad planning and desperation which some of the fans have lapped up - but I'm not surprised. just because it's easy, doesn't mean it's right. he should have had to apply and interview just like everybody else.

Does it scream of bad planning, or is it something they've been working on for a while? Any EFL club that sack their manager are going to be inundated with out of work managers throwing their hat into the ring - there are a lot of them about and only a limited amount of vacancies, doesn't mean any of them are going to be the right man for the job at this point in the season. If we've already got someone lined up that can come straight in and hit the ground running, (and who may have had a say in some of the players brought in last week), that sounds like quite good planning to me.

You sound surprised at your own post. This is Bradford City, you really didn't expect anyone else bar McCall, you ain't that naive. It's the easy option, only time will tell if it's the right option, and that goes with any manager unless you can see into the future. As a club we very rarely are proactive, I'd expect that they wouldn't have even contemplated sacking Bowyer if it wasn't for the Oldham game, I mean, who sacks a manager just after a transfer window? Oh yeah....

I am afraid you are wasting your time here, all of your points are valid. However, this poster likes nothing better than a good argument, he will be right back at you, asking for this that and the other to support every single point you make.

it is easy to say, we have loads of applicants and they are all better than McCall. It was Rhodes decision to approach Stuart, rather than ‘he should be made to apply and be interviewed’ Stuart brings something unique that the rest don’t. If he wasn’t available then that is exactly what we would be doing, which would take at the every least a week, but probably longer. The club still think we are in with a chance so we need to get on with it, as they now say Stuart is oven ready!
