I doubt he will leave Vaughan out and kill team spirit I think Doyle will play for now the dilemma will come when Donaldson is fit because they tried playing all three at the start of the season and it didn’t work

Do you really watch the games? GB plays both Reeves and Palmer in a deep position just in front of defence. Indeed in the last three games, he has played them both together so much so that they were almost falling over each other. Despite their abilities, when they are playing so deep, they are not the players to be providing Doyle with opportunities in the penalty area.

I agree that GB has ben successful so far with his own safety first approach relying on the defence to restrict the opposition. Unfortunately without a major change in GB's own thinking that's not a style which can easily accommodate the way Doyle plays.

Damn. With all the excitement of him "coming home", I forgot that we now have to start paying his wages in full, which means we are now without a pot to piss in again.

Expect Gibson to line up on the left on Saturday.

Don't be glib. You know that we've on more than one occasion had virtually all out creative players unavailable and of course Donaldson

Again, you seem to be under the impression that we've played negatively all season, every match and Bowyer had dozens of other choices

The primary task after relegation is rebuilding the winning mentality, which will only ever start from the back - hene why Man City are struggling to defend their title

The pragmatism Bowyer has shown, is what will get us promoted - I couldn't give a flying fig about the quality. I'd love it if endless attacking play, with no attention to defending (i.e. no CDM's) was the way to go, but we saw in 2008/9 in this division it simply wasn't. Instead the boring teams, Wycombe and Brentford went up. It's League 2

Team spirit.. this isn't the Bradford under 11's.

Vaughan and Donaldson will be buzzing Doyle is back because the own is to go up.

We will start Doyle and Vaughan up top on Saturday and if they produce then unless Bowyer wants to go 4-3-3 or something then Donaldson will have to stay on the bench. It's football!

Squads with competition for places tend to do well.

And don't you get the situation. He's done that because he's no-one else to play there. Hence, why he protects them with a back five, knowing that they are not true defensive midfielders, hoping that the wing backs will get forward. Unfortunately, Henley fails miserably at this

The addition of Donaldson or Doyle plus wing backs where both actually play like that or better still a return to a back four, naturally pushes both those central midfielders further forward

Everyone underestimated Donaldson't contribution (hilarious, those who wanted him dropped) as he naturally holds the ball / or occupies defenders, which means we are automatically a few yards further up the pitch and then whoever is in CM can affect play with their midfield skills, rather than having to be so defensive

When Bowyer took Blackpool up, they were the 6th highest scorers - he's not overtly negative. Pragmatic, yes. And that pragmatism boring as it has been at times, as made sure we are firmly in contention for a Top 3 spot. There was no other way

Now, that everyone is fit, as we saw last week at Swindon when he played a back four - he can and will be more expensive

Stop thinking that the future is just going to be a repetition of the past, when circumstances have changed

Bowyer's kept his three very good central defenders happy (relatively). No reason why he can't do the same for his very good attackers

I actually think all three could play together, but it would be Vaughan playing behind them

And remember Vaughan is certain to have a two game ban (or is it more?) soon, when he inevitably gets suspended

I imagine the question will be asked of Bowyer at tomorrow's press conference regarding doyle leaving again.

I still think it would be PR suicide to allow that, which is why I don't think it'll happen

You make it up as you go along. Nowhere have I stated that the whole season has been negative but the truth is its been done on the back of a defensive effort. I can count on one hand the games where we have gone for it in an attacking sense. And this is a dilemma for Bowyer now Doyle is back. You can't not play the leading scorer in the division and you can't play him as a lone striker so he has to go Doyle and Vaughan. That partnership then needs service, he either goes wingers or attacking cm/number 10. If he goes the latter then that negates Connolly, but could get the best from Pritchard, Cooke or possibly Devitt. I don't see McCartan as a creative 10. Go with the former and Connolly and Ismail come into play, although Ismail is primarily a RW as well. Pritchard could play there but I like to see players in their best positions. Doyle coming back has created choices for Bowyer, but not all straight forward. He has to play him, no manager would leave out the top scorer in the country, but having to effectively tear up your strategy to get the best out of him could just as easily back fire, it was clear the start of the season he didn't know how to get the best out of him. Now he has a couple more options he didn't have then, but will he use them to his advantage. Let's not beat about the Bush, Doyle coming back had increased the pressure on Bowyer to succeed, more pressure than there was before.

My only criticism of Bowyer this season, is that re-signing Devine and Anderson was a big error. Hard to get rid of Akpan and he's useful cover (as a 10th midfield reserve :)) and Palmer was good when fit

Vaughan playing behind Donaldson and Doyle, this screams square pegs in round holes.

Vaughan has played as a kind of No.10 before though. He has good hold up play etc. But yes, with our other wide options - perm two from three

I just wouldn't rule it out, particularly if we're behind in a game, in as much not scored

Palmer has been massively underwhelming imo. I get why we signed him but I really can't see what he's contributed up to press.

Our front one/two struggles for service, Vaughan has shown nothing to suggest he should be playing behind the front two. If you want the best from a front two permutation then we cannot play 3 centre backs and the only two cms I'd envisage playing together as a compliment would be either Reeves and another or Cooke and another, probably Taylor. Palmer hasn't shown enough for me to justify picking him.
