Good point to be fair, that was done on Deadline day wasn’t it?

If he comes back he knows he’s playing for his next contract - here or elsewhere. Can’t see him laking. He never did before. He just got poor service and was out of form. He’ll get service now and is in red hot form.

Not really sure his goalscoring form would continue.

Some players just work at some clubs under some managers.

If Swindon were playing in a similar manner to ourselves, fair enough - but I don't know if that's the case.

Swindon have had 6 different players score in the league this season.

    We have had 13.

Yates and Doyle have scored 24 out of a total of 30 league goals (excluding 1 own goal). Keshi Anderson, who can play up front, has scored another 3.

Our main strikers have scored 7 goals out of a total of 22 (excluding 2 own goals). Oteh has scored another 2.

The statistics are poles apart - and while people get uppity about generalising via statistics, I can't recall an enormous number of chances afforded to Donaldson, Vaughan or Oteh that they should definitely have scored. There are maybe three chances Donaldson got stick for missing as being 'easy', but where would the other goals that Doyle would need to score to maintain his red hot form come from?

Bringing Doyle back probably would be the ideal move, if we ignore finances, but there is absolutely no evidence to say he would bang in a hatful. There's no evidence to suggest he's a better or more clinical forward than Vaughan. There's no evidence to suggest he wouldn't quickly lose form and confidence if he simply wasn't getting the chances.

For me, it's overly simplistic to look at a striker scoring goals at a club that rely entirely on their strikers for goals, then expect something similar here in a team that have a far more even distribution throughout the team and who tend to pick up results without really playing anyone off the park.

I think you can establish a players level of enthusiasm to play for your club. Sure they may attempt to put on a positive pitch, if they are after a contract. However in Doyle’s case, given the success he is enjoying at Swindon, why would he want to return to somewhere, which has been a down point in his career? We tried him at the start of the season, with our current manager and most of the present squad and it just wasn’t working. Unless he really wants to return and ‘show us what he can do’, then there seems little point forcing someone who isn’t committed, to come back to VP.

Of course it wasn't working, GB played him at the tip of a diamond. Since then we've signed half a dozen players and stumbled upon a system.

The Bradford City when Doyle was here is completely unrecognizable compared to the Bradford City we see now.

Its rather ironic that the lad says he's loving playing for Swindon, and obviously Wellands, and because of his fantastic goal return he may be brought back to Bradford City.
If he'd gone to Swindon and continued as he had at Bradford City, although in last season team 11 goals was not a bad return with the service he got, no one would be batting an eye lid about him or wanting to bring him back.
When we had our differance of opinion regarding Doyle my concern was we did not have adequate cover I never though for one minute hed perform as he has done.

I would recall Doyle back to City on 1st January and only let him return to Swindon when they agree to sign him for a fee or a loan fee and pay all his wages. Let him and Swindon sweat for all of January if neccessary. One months wages would be cheap to get a good fee for him.

Agreed. I posted earlier - looking at the type of goals he's scoring for Swindon, he's getting the same sort of service he'd get from Connelly, Pritchard, Ismail and Wood.

And even if the goals dried up - it's worth taking a 50-60k hit just to take Europe's most prolific striker out of the side we're in direct competition for automation promotion with.

The most prolific goalscorer in Europe is called Ciro Immobile, not Eoin Doyle ;)

There is one other aspect to this saga. Bowyer couldn’t get out of Doyle what Wellens is currently getting - and he’s getting some pelters on here because of it. Maybe he feels it’s a hit to his ego, professional acumen, call it what you will.

Surely it’s in the back of his mind that if he recalls Doyle and he reverts to the player you had before he signed for us then he’s going to take another helluva knock personally.

Be glad when it’s all done and dusted. Hope you keep on winning, tbh!

Okay oh well lets just carry on paying some of is salary and you enjoy 25-30 goals on us this season. Dude enjoy, he is in a team in the the same division and a rival. Merry Xmas. No prob's we are loaded.

Bowyer didn't really manage Doyle (It was just cope with what we got at the time) and we didn't have any wingers so I think even the most egotistical manager now knows that winger's service and Doyle equals scoring.

Now go and pay your electricity bills.

Just bring him back and bench him. We have another option and Swindon drop to mid-table mediocrity. Everyone's winning on the BCFC side of things. Mccartan, Anderson and Patrick out of the door should cover his wages.

So if McCartan, Anderson and Patrick, are in your opinion, so poor, who is going to take them on a comparable salary! Easier said than done, to get them ‘out of the door’!

if we don't bring him back we risk missing out on a promotion spot thanks to his goals for our rivals.

we have to recall him. there's no debate to be had.

We might get shut of Shay, but I'd be extremely surprised if anyone took Patrick.

Anderson, not totally sure - maybe.

Donaldson has missed a few tbh that Doyle could equally have missed or he could have scored.

I'd feel more confident that Doyle will score with Zeli and Dylan in the team than when he played in last season's team. It's never one factor alone though with football, is it?

There are a few scenario's the club need to look at IMO, rather than just bring him back and hope he continues to score.

By my calculations under Wellens at Oldham and Swindon, Eoin Doyle has scored 32 goals in 51 appearances. I wonder how he uses him.
Most of his Oldham goals were on a YouTube video.
