He did have one very radical idea re development though, and had the balls to try it on at least one PL club **so funny

If Rupp invested just 10% of his fortune into the playing budget we’d be in the championship and have a very good chance of promotion just like Huddersfield did.
He could then take the TV windfall cash and double his overall fortune just like the Huddersfield chairman did.
Yes we’d be relegated but would we care so long as we were a financially stable championship club?

Average losses in the Championship would need far more the Rupp's investment.

Yet Dean Hoyle was reputed to write off £5 m year on year for several years before Town achieved the promised land, as @Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander says 10% of £120 m won't go a long way to getting us to be a competitive club in the Championship.

Ouch, there is no way Stefan is going to risk that sort of money in a venture he has little knowledge of

Exactly Fordy. Maybe he doesn't actually want to sell and the £10M valuation is to potential buyers off.

The last time Doyle was as prolific as this was when he was on loan at Oldham when he scored 17 in 32/34 appearances. Both spells under the same manager who obviously knows how to use him. I should imagine he has missed chances at Swindon but I don't really remember him missing a boat load of chances here, he was having to do a lot of work outside the box due to the way we used him.

£15 million? That wouldn't even buy us a top centre forward in the championship!

You underestimate considerably how much would be required. Even if Rupp got us into the Championship with his initial £15mill, there is then the small matter of becoming established in the Championship before gaining promotion to the PL. It cost Hoyle nearly £60mill to get Town to the PL. It cost Gibson nearly £100mill to do the same at Boro and it has already cost other owners more than that and they still haven't ahieved promotion to the PL.

Just to give other posters some context about the scale of losses which are likely formost championship clubs, here's a graph of wages paid out in the Championship (excl transfer fees!) in the season before last....

    Championship Profit 2017-18 (4).jpg

Ours in Div 1 was somewhere in the region of £3mill!

This is why Rhodes break even nonsense that can apply to him when him and Lawn owned the club. Now we should be looking for me ambition.

So with cost of getting to the PL in mind the club moaning about the cost of a new training ground or stadium highlights a bad position that club really is in in terms of drive.

And then have a look how far Barnsley were ahead of us when we played and it shows you the distance to go just to even try and compete at the lower end of the championship.

Indeed. And some posters still believe it's easy to become an established Championship club just because we have a big following for a Div 2 or even a Div 1 club! Selling a few more pies or selling a few more pints or even getting another 5,000 fans through the turnstiles with our cheap ticketing policy just isn't going to bridge the gap.

    100%

This is why posters like @Bronco@Bronco need to wake up.

The club needs to start doing more to close the gap.

The ONLY way to close the gap is to overspend dramatically.

That's what all these facts and figures represent - 24 clubs in the Championship all overspending dramatically in a desperate bid to reach the promised land of the Premier League.

    So.

Let's discuss how to overspend dramatically, and who's money to plough endlessly into the project?
