Reevesy is doing OK

I do remember that comment, although maybe he was getting bad advice from the German physio guy? I think its been established that bad medical advice is what has caused Reeves to be out for so long and how was Hopkins meant to know any better at the time!
That said, impressed with how Bowyer has handled it so far.

 

Lossau had already left by the time Hopkin was appointed.

 

Hopkins man management skills left a lot to be desired. So much so that he walked away as he couldn't get the players onside.

 

Poor comment maybe but it has to be judged in context. Pretty much everyone was calling our players wusses and questioning their motivation last year and with some justification.

 

Klopp couldn’t have got that bunch of no hopers playing never mind Hopkin!

 

His man management fitted the situation.

 

Intent maybe, but not in execution. He clearly didn't get the players engaged or performing, though he has a very misbalanced squad with obvious gaps. It was a clusterbollocks of a season, but I think Hopkin was a typical example of someone coming down from Scotland after doing well, and struggling with the English game.

 

You say we're 'rushing him back' but he's been training with the first team for a big chunk of this season. Many managers might have reintroduced him earlier, but Bowyer has been his customary cautious self when it comes to injuries and has held him back, despite saying for weeks that he's doing well. He's now had a half in a closed doors game and an hour last night. I expect to see him come off the bench for the next couple of games and then start some league games.

So you're on. A tenner to Darby Rimmer if Reeves doesn't start a league game before Christmas.

 

Hopkin is a dreadful manager full stop, never mind in the English league. He's on a run of 7 straight league defeats at Morton with the fans wanting him out.

 

Hopkin was one of Rhodes biggest mistakes last year and a massive reason why we went down.

Going from Collins to Hopkin is like going from Anderson to Devine. Utter useless!

Damn so Edin appointed Collins and Hopkin?? Wow that's poor.. Mr"I know football" was awful for this club... it's lucky that we still have one. He was that bad.. not even in a greedy way.

i went last night and unless we have been conned regarding Reeves these last 22 months I think we ought to give Gary Bowyer some credit for getting him back out on the pitch.
i was surprised that he started the game and I think it was a very smart move making him skipper. That meant it would hard for Reeves to come off with a slight niggle.
Regardless of the opposition and the competition what impressed me about his performance was how he approached it. He worked very hard all over the pitch, was very vocal, especially driving City forward telling them to play further up the pitch and not sit in our own half. His first touch and passing was also good. And although it was probably sensible to bring him off after an hour he looked like he could have done the full 90 mins. Early days I know but his involvement from now will depend on how his body reacts after such a long layoff.
He also looked like he was enjoying himself. I'm not getting too carried away but if his body reacts okay he will be like a new signing because I for one had written him off.
