Downloaded the app just to look through the menu. Haven't been to Kiplings in a while. Normally do Akbars if im having a sit-down curry.

Kiplings over Akbars for me. Always thought Akbars was overrated. Last time I went with work colleagues a few months ago, it was very average and far too salty for my liking

Brooks in Brighouse (been around for ages, was never tempted) has been taken over. Looks better.

Is there anything more irritating than been asked if everything’s okay by a waitress, whilst you’ve got a gob full of pie? I’d suggest not.

The only Taylor’s pub in Lancashire https://www.whiteswanatfence.co.uk/ went for lunch. Absolutely excellent, well worth the trip. Food, service, ambience and beer all tremendous. Thoroughly recommended.

I see Pizza Pieces won an award last night. Good to see. I love that place.

It's an institution, and congrats to them.

However, I can't help feeling that a pizza place that shuts at 8pm winning the award is a damning indictment of what else is available in the city.

I used to get pizzas from there when they had the old place opposite the T & A. Done well to keep going in a dying city centre.

Hi all. A bit of help required. My wife and her sisters are going to the Alhambra in the New Year and want to go somewhere for a pre-theatre dinner. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. Cheers

    Pizza Pieces (see above).

Really can't think of a local restaurant to suggest, to honest. Had a look at the Alhambra's own offering?

Thanks Millario. Such a shame that the city centre still doesn't offer many decent restaurants. I'm sure the pizzas at Pizza Pieces are fabulous, but it looks a little bit fast foody. Not a problem just probably not what she is looking for. The Alhambra itself looks a possibility - I never even realised it had a restaurant.

Just as an aside, visited Salvos on Saturday night. Overall a pretty poor experience. The food was ok at best. Service brusque and impersonal. I know people often complain about how long food takes to arrive. Not a problem here. Starters arrived within 5 minutes of ordering with the mains shortly behind. We arrived at 8.15 and were pretty much finished before 9. it was a horribly rushed experience.

Sad that isn't it that a City the size of Bradford can't offer a varied selection of eating establishments. Going into town is a really demoralising experience these days. Halifax is levels above in terms dining out.

Haha - we live in Leeds so that could be an option. Not sure it's what she had in mind though. By the way, been back to Buon Apps several times since your recommendation - excellent every time

:thumbup:We tend to go early evenings on a Friday after picking the lads up from school, alternate between there and Blackhouse in Leeds centre, although we are planning on El Gato Negro this week. Had a crappy, overcooked steak a month ago, but apart from that always decent fare.

Bella Mia Cafe Saltaire, called in as we were hungry whilst boozing in Saltaire. Strange place.

Don't like it's appearance, the windows are too big and they and the door are warehouse-like. Inside was
okaaay, some bizarre ornaments & pictures aside, suspended ceiling tiles like a 70's office with perspex under the fluorescent lights, it is what it is, an unprententious family cafe. Pizza Funghi & Margherita were ordered and shared and they were flippin ace, perfectly thin, like the ones in Viva Leeds. A bottle of dry house white was ordered (£10) which was ....wet, some Peroni's too. Cant remember the cost but I nearly laughed, was about 35/40% of what I'd pay in Leeds, the ownere was super friendly and they are adaptable, you could ask for a pizza to be 4 flavours and it's no problem, open every day from early too, what an ace cafe!

Went to the Salt Bar after, half full, I like their own Alpaca ale, it has a citrus taste and is strong, it's £5.90 a pint though.........we sat on stools with the high round tables, a couple behind us were having a right ding-dong. They had a bottle of champagne delivered in an ice bucket, still they banged on, they were pissing me off, just as I was about to ask them to STFU, the girl stormed out, the bloke got up and asked if I wanted the champers, result!:D
