As expected, the Bulgarian scum have started their racist abuse at the England players, notably against Sterling.

So the ref has instigated the first response by insisting a PA Warning. However with England already leading 3-0 you can see this turning ugly.

I hope the England can get on with the job of stuffing Bulgaria, and that sanctions are taken against them

So if the game is abandoned is it a 0-2 win?

Not sure about the score, but surely 3 points to England would be awarded.

The best idea would be to empty the stadium of home fans, and finish the game, in my opinion

Could be tasty for the England fans outside of the stadium and in bars after the game

Posted this in the wrong thread :
Looking like the England/Bulgaria game could be called off the Bulgarian fans giving it the monkey chants ETC, shocking and when warned over the tannoy they just carried on.
Fifa have to back England and our black players and award the game to us.
The Bulgaria manager looks to be gesturing what can we do.......joke shocking behavior.
Many young Bulgarian fans leaving the ground, looks like common sense has prevailed.

As I said previously on this subject taking action against a countries FA is a totally pointless, counter productive and ridiculous thing (unless obviously it’s something they are doing). Most of the countries it happens in it’s happening because they basically don't have a black population and it’s stemmed from the fear of things that are different/unusual that is part of the human makeup.

A countries FA can’t change this, it’s a long term cultural shift that comes from exposing the people to different races and ideally to positive representations of these different races as well. Football and sport in general can be part of the solution as it’s a good way of exposing people to these different races doing something aspiring and positive but if we start holding all countries to say our standards all you do is reduce the chances of exposure (either because you shut the stadiums or because you fine them at the level the likes of Danny Rose has wanted that it bankrupts the FA and kills football in that country) and give them something that turns fear into actual hatred and that does nothing but make the situation even worse.

There is certainly no quick fix, look at countries like ourselves where we have a long history of being a mixed race society and we are exposed to non-white sports people, films/tv with non-white people in them, music by non-white artists etc etc on a daily basis. Getting as far as we have hasn’t been done quickly and we are no where near perfect so a country with almost no black population certainly isn’t going to change culturally overnight and not by punishing groups who on their own can’t change things

To think the Bulgarian manager was giving it large about there been no racism in Bulgarian football and it’s England with the biggest problem. No doubt there’s still a big problem with racism in this country, but it’s not flat out denied or even made a joke of like it is in some Eastern European countries.

When UEFA were asked about the game the answer was "no comment" .

He did say 'Bulgarian Championship". In all sports, International matches do often attract some people who wouldn't usually go and watch that sport (and vice versa, there are people who detest the international side of a sport but will turn up to the club side every week) so it's not totally beyond the realm of possibility that those making racist chants might not attend club matches (or they are dispersed across multiple clubs and without the larger group to protect them don't do it)

Mind you we do the same thing he has done, its common to say 'It's not as bad as in X' to deflect'

Highly unlikely that the racists only come out for internationals, it’s rife in Eastern Europe.

But let's be careful not to hold the moral high ground. Its still here, it's still a problem here.

As I stated in my first post on this thread, unfortunately it’s British citizens who’ve been the subject of racist abuse on a vile scale tonight, especially after the speech their manager gave before hand. Totally ridiculous.

Is it or is that just stereotyping people from Eastern Europe?

Certainly not saying he is right but unless you watch lots of Bulgarian club football you can’t really say he is wrong either. Look at Italy where you have the reverse problem, it’s rife in club football but doesn’t really rear it’s head for the national team

No it definitely is rife in Eastern European football. Our players were racially abused on our last visits to Montenegro, Serbia and now Bulgaria. A daily big sample size. Black players often talk about racist abuse when coming out of the Russian league as well.

While it is stereotyping using the term Eastern Europe there is some basis to it. As I said in my first post these countries that used to be behind the iron curtain don't generally have a noticeable black population. Prior to USSR falling apart they won't even have been getting exposed to western movies, tv, music and sport in a significant way, let alone western tourists of any race so it’s only been like 30 years that they have been getting exposed to western culture in any significant way and in turn non-white culture

I must also add, when I said Eastern European I meant in footballing terms not as countries. Although the ones I’ve been to I’ve seen a few problems. But in this thread I’m trying to stick solely to racism in football, how anyone could question there are major issues among the European countries I don’t know. Monkey chants are a regular thing, yet UEFA do little.
