I know we play in the league trophy midweek but its meaningless in the supporters eyes at the moment.
So next up in the league is Scunthorpe United.
So far they've not got going. Only 5 points and another loss yesterday at Walsall 1-0 with only 2 shots on target suggests issues up top.
McArdle at the back for all his heroics here is getting on now and has never been blessed with pace so surely they are there for the taking.
A midfield that contains Gilliead and Matt Lund?? Would we take either of those over Connelly or Cooke.
Support wise i'm expecting a sold out away end and a 3-1 win for us.
Here's to a great away day.

You've mentioned three players with an extra incentive to do well against us next week.. .

You'd hope after yesterday that we are starting to find a way of playing along with a settled formation. Get another win, against a struggling side, and it will have been a very decent start to the season points and position wise.

We have taken the lead in all 5 league away games this season and I would not be surprised if we do at scunthorpe.

I would like to see us control and manage the games more effectively when in this situation, an area we need to improve upon.

Always get a bit nervous when we are up against struggling sides as we have had a tendency in recent years to be the team that turns around those sides seasons. However, I was encouraged that didn't happen when we played Walsall so am feeling cautiously optimistic about next week.

Well at least we wont have BRE to give away idiotic free kicks like he did at Cheltenham.

Yep, always a bonus to not have one of the stand out players of the season so far available for selection : unamused:

True, but it's a team game from front to back. A team game. You win together and all that. A little harsh to pick on one player.

To drop 8 points from winning positions needs addressing

They may be at the bottom, but their immediate form is not the worst.

    Last 3 games they've got 4 points, scored 5 and conceded 3.

We might not be playing them at the best - having said that, we should still beat them. They have picked all their points at home, and nobody had battered them at Glanford Park.

Forget the lower teams hoodoo nonsense, think we haven't lost to anyone outside the top 5.

    I'm going for 2-¹.

Oh and don't get booked James Vaughan. Reckon Swindon the week after will be a real test of our ability to press for a play off place.

Think this be tougher than what we think. 3-2 City.

Do you think if we had a quiet word in Flynnie's ear he could get one of his players to 'accidentally' cause an injury to Doyle next week? I'm not suggesting a bad one, just a little one that will keep him sidelined the following week ;)

There is no way that City will have allowed Doyle to play against us this season, as part of loan deal.

Can't stop him, it is against the rules now to insert that clause. There could be a gentlemen's agreement but nothing official.

Scunthorpe should not be taken too lightly Jon, as you suggest.

(An aside .... I had Lincoln to beat Oxford by two clear goals on Saturday, Oxford Won 0 - 6)
Overall, the stat's edge slightly to a City win ..............
Last six games, Home and Away:

    .......................... W....D....L....F....A....Pts
    City.....................3.....0.....3....9 ...8.....9
    Scunny...............1.....1..... 4....5...7.....4
So, whilst Citys form is better, we still concede a few, just as Scunny know where the goal is too.

More appropriately ; Scunnys last 4 at Home, City last 4 Away ...........

    ...........................W....D....L....F....A....Pts
    Scunny ..............1.....2.....1....7....5.....5
    City ....................2.....0.....2....5....5.....6

Although Scunny may well be all but rock bottom, and City currently top 7 .... Consider this ........

Citys last 4 at Home, and Scunnys last 4 Away .............

    ...........................W....D....L....F....A....Pts
    City ....................3.....0.....1....8....3.....9
    Scunny ..............0.....0 .....4...2....7.....0

Nothing much to see here .......... Other than all Scunthorpes points have come at Home.

Although I hope for and expect a City Win, I (too) am going cautiously for just 1 - 2. If City merely expect to turn up for three points, they could get bitten.

We definitely shouldn't give Scunthorpe something to get their teeth in to then.

Got my tickets. Hope it's not as nailbiting as last year when we went 3-0 up at half time then clung on for a 3-2 win.

I would certainly take a repeat of that
