I never actually knew that the 4th official could overrule the linesman and referee on a decision like that.

How on earth he had a better view than the linesman and ref is anybody's guess. I suspect it was just a gut instinct in reaction to the Carlisle players appeals

Agree. Who is the right man?
I’m referring to the fact that many of the performances to date have been stuttering. I haven’t been able to see exactly what Bowyer is trying to do unlike a McCall or Parky team one who was fluid and attacking and one who was a hard to beat workaholic type team respectively. This may well be that Bowyer is yet to get in exactly the personnel he wants. I can’t believe Akpan has a future here and his wages would get in another couple one who could be a strong defensive midfielder who can pass the ball. We still don’t have one of those who can make a difference in a game.
Bowyers difficulty stems from some fans belief that he did nothing last term with the side that got relegated. I’m not in that camp personally as that side were pretty gutless and 3 managers couldn’t get it to work.
However some fans feel this is part of bowyers supposed failure to date. I don’t. I’m more concerned with him getting a tune out of the current side.
Two come from behind wins already this season suggest that he is on the right lines yet expect more inconsistency and bumps in the road as the season unfolds.
We were soundly outclassed on Tuesday by a side that was fluid in retention of the ball. I wasn’t surprised that they won at Plymouth yesterday. Cheltenham are the benchmark for now. And we aren’t at that level yet. Whether we can reach it will come down to Bowyer maximising the squad at his disposal.
So I’m presently unconvinced but willing to back Bowyer. Just as many of us did when parky was starting out with that shambles of a team. Who knows where this could lead?

I think it’s all about aggressiveness and being in control. The fact he may have got the ball isn’t a valid excuse nowadays.

If Cheltenham keep playing well expect to see Doyle Hayes move up a rung into league one at Christmas

Aggressive yes but I don't think it was out of control. It was perfectly timed and he only went in with one foot. At first I thought he'd gone in two footed but the challenge was nothing like that at all. Surely for a red it's got to be either high, late or two footed? They can't just start giving reds for every aggressive sliding challenge.

Yes if that had been Devine Akpan Anderson then there would have been howls of negativity based on how centre mid was non existent in that spell and how they left the CH exposed.

I had actually thought the ref was much better yesterday. Got the red cards right. Was consistent. The Donaldson overruled goal came from 4th official by the look of it. I didn’t think that was allowed. The ref and lino gave it.
I question the reckless BRE tackle. That nearly gave Carlisle a way back into the game. Whether their lad made a meal of it or not it looked really bad from the kop.

Can't agree. If an opposition player went in like that then I would be unhappy if a red card didn’t get given. He raised his leg high and almost stamped down on the ball with the studs. 10 years ago he might have got away with it. These days it’s a red whether you get the ball or not. I prefer to see some proper tackling in a game and that kind of challenge ok providing the ball is won. However refs are instructed that if players are out of control it is reckless and a red is given. BRE has been pretty good so far this season and hopefully will learn from this.
He is absolutely an upgrade on NKP.

It was Connolly who 'ran the show'. Best wingers display since we had Mark Marshall.

Agree. Connolly ran them ragged. They resorted to putting the young kid on him second half to try nullify his threat. Connolly appears to be loving the big atmosphere. MOTM

Enjoyable game yesterday, easily the most entertaining of the 4 games I’ve seen this season. We were 2nd best up until the equaliser and then obviously the sending off helped. From then as you’d expect total domination until BRE’s absolutely ridiculous challenge. Don’t understand why he got applauded off, he was a fkin idiot. It wasn’t rocket science that the ref would use an opportunity to send one of ours off. The goal not being given for “handball” also a joke.

One of those games where we should have won 5/6-1 but somehow we still manage to feel like we’re clinging on. I hold BRE responsible for that.

On another note, isn’t it about time either the black netting on the front rows came back or more stewards were positioned in front of the kop to stop the chavs invading the pitch. Celebrating goals with a pitch invasion vs the likes of Northampton and Carlisle is plain fkin embarrassing. It’s only a matter of time until something silly happens with an opposition player if it does continue as there isn’t much of a brain cell count amongst them. And before I get some “Bantams family” comment from one of the chavs it’s nowt to do with Bantams family, I just don’t like w4nkers on the pitch. Maybe @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler can give his thoughts?

Completely agree. Those running in the pitch will get the club into bother.
We’ve always had a minority of dickheads follow city as have all clubs but this shows they don’t give a stuff. Celebrate goals as we all do. But do it in the kop not on the pitch.
The one who took a swing at a steward should be banned and brought before the courts.
If they encroach fine them £100 every time.
    It’s ridiculous.

That's what's to be expected when you sell things on the cheap.

I don't like it and it needs addressing. I would bill the whole bottom 5 rows of that Koop section. Make them pay more including the adults. Yes, i am a w4nker!

Funniest thing yesterday before kick off was GB squirting water from his bottle at Harry McKirdy on the touch line, Just as he turned to see who it was squirting water GB gave him another squirt in the face, Laughs all round,

I wasn't at the game, on holiday at the moment but after Northampton I did have words with Paula Watson. Today I have sent her this page of the thread and the other thread "Fans on the pitch", I have copied Julian Rhodes and they both have my thoughts, up to them re the action but in my view if it happens again we need to be able to tell the F A what we have done rather than we we are going to do, this is important as patience will run out eventually and we will get clobbered.

I'm siding with both you and @bantam2708@bantam2708 on this Jon, we need to demonstrate sterner resilience against better teams, which means changing our setup a little, but as you say, any change would have the cyber vultures circling, ready to strike should things not pan out as we all hoped. Something to work hard on in training perhaps ?
Hopefully something has clicked with Bowyer, not just the players (and fans) ;)
The outstanding concern for me, a better organised midfield or not - the rear guard still continue to make schoolboy errors and judgements, costing us goals, and ultimately points.

Absolute egg on my face moment. Was about to scream obscenities as he had acres in front of him to drive into and thought it was going to be opportunity wasted. Really good crosser of a ball just wish he would get on his bike a lot more to get in those positions more often.

Whats your opinion on the Everton red, do you think your services will be required to try and get it over ruled ?.

No chance. He might have only gone in one footed but both feet left the floor to make the tackle. No tolerance on these sort of tackles nowadays. Ridiculous tackle in regards to the situation and the part of the pitch the play was in. You could see it coming a mile off unfortunately BRE didn't have the same foresight.
