I remember it like it was yesterday. Windass free kick, floated in to Bronco Layne, flicked past Walshy for an own goal.

The lamb curry was exceptional, and the beer, well... Honestly, I had so much I don't rightly remember any of it!

It was one of those matches, the ice was really bad, Janes Mason in his best pointy shoes sliding up and down the street, trying to get everybody to go back up the hill as the coaches couldn’t come down safely. The ground was weird, nothing matched, then the result, I think we sold out for that match as well, but the free travel was a good.

 

Whoever once told you that you were funny has a lot to answer for.

Thought i'd post on here after reading the Jamie Devitt article on the club website.

Doesn't appear as though we're likely to see him in return in the short term. It seems the update is "as was" back in the summer when I attended the Bingley Fans Forum. Still hoping we'll see him back in a City shirt this season.

"The City chief has also moved to update supporters on the fitness of Jake Reeves, who is progressing well.

The midfielder has been sidelined since January 2018 and Bowyer insists the right plans are in place to help aid his recovery.

Bowyer added: "Jake is out on the training pitch every day now and is working extremely hard.

"With the length of time he has been out, it would be very unfair on the lad to try and put a timeframe on when we might see him return.

"It is important to look after him and manage him well. We have a good plan in place as to how we can gradually step up his rehabilitation, in the right manner."

 

Back in 2 weeks....

So in a nutshall.

He can collect his wages and never play for the club again while we dance about drip feeding stories every couple of months to say he's doing ok.

I've given up on seeing him play for the club again if I am honest but we might roll him out the last few months of the season so he gets a move or new contract elsewhere.

It might be best for all parties he gets a move in Jan on loan or permanent either way because he's going to be a long way off match fit for us and it's unfair to put pressure on him.

This is so unfair @Fordy117 you don't know the reason of his injury and what is involved in getting him back to fitness, maybe it's not all down to physical fitness, it could be a mental thing, we don't know and we shouldn't judge until we do.
With regards his wages I would hope that is covered by club insurance, again we don't know.
As @BCAFCTomo says Bowyer is not going to risk his return and is not prepared to put a time frame on it.

 

How is it unfair?

Fully understand it could be a mental thing but the club, Parker and Reeves haven't said so, so can only judge on a footballing thing and if it's down to football then we need to consider him getting match fit elsewhere.

Why should he be going elsewhere to get fit, Reeves can do everything he needs to do to get hims fit at Rawdon Meadows, he needs to be managed correctly as Bowyer says "It is important to look after him and manage him well".
I would not expect the club, Parker or Reeves himself to comment on his situation, we don't need to know, and certainly not if it's not football related.

 

Sometimes things don't have to be said as they are that obvious, whether it's physical or mental he has every right to keep his medical situation private like anyone else does. I'd confidently guess he's had more support in the few months from Boywer than he has in the 18 or so months since the injury which has probably set him back.

All the signs are that one way or another it's a mental problem either as mental health or a mental block in thinking any pain is worse than it is and these are almost impossible to put a recovery time on as people recover differently and there's not a set way of measuring how bad it is unlike a pulled hamstring.

Simon Parker says there will be a bit about him in the T&A tomorrow so we might get some more information then but even if we don't we should let the club and the relevant medical experts help him recover how they see fit.

 

I think if it wasn't football related the club might have said so a while ago. Accrington only recently released a statement regarding the absence of Billy Kee from the team and the reasons behind it, it stops speculation and allows the player to get the specialist treatment he needs.
