City were good in the Second half. The introduction of Ismail was a game changer. Shame he is out against Walsall but he looks like he has the pace and skill to beat most players in league 2 which will be great for city as we miss a real play maker

A disgraceful decision from a quite frankly pathetic referee. I think the first booking was right but the second was never a booking, just another shocker from an inept ref.

Ismail is everything Scannell isn't. Quick, took on his man, beat him and created.

He had hold of him, gave the ref a decision to make it was needless when he was already booked... the other guy was already going to get booked so just don't get invlolved. Walsall next too. Other than that I thought he was excellent

The way he let constant booking opportunities go then decides to go for that is poor refereeing. I've watched it back a few times, Ismail does very little wrong.

Anyone remember what we paid for him & length of contract? Nice to see such a promising player not being on loan!

He has hold of his shirt, doesn't even let go even when the keeper tries separating them. That's probably a booking at any point but either way he's made the ref make a decision. Naive

I don’t even think the ref got the first yellow correct either. I sit near the away fans in Midland Road so was almost in line with the incident - the sack of shit was already falling forward when Zeli put his hands on him. And as for the red card, shoot the ref. Useless fecker

You always run the risk of a yellow when bring a player down from behind when running toward goal. The second one should have been easy enough to deal with by a talking to.

Ismail made the difference, he was incisive, and not only made the goal, but soon after cut inside to shoot showing he can go either way. Some fancy touches and neat footwork were nice to see, but his directness was the best thing on display today.

Let's hope his ridiculous suspension is a blessing in disguise, as Ismail will have 10 days to recover ahead of a tough Tuesday night trip to Cheltenham (and let's hope they're a little bit less prepared for him as a result).

Cheltenham are the third team we'll face this season that are currently in the top 7, and we lost to the other two - so that's a huge game for us.

As for Zeli's future, let's hope we can keep him fit and hungry, because there's a reason he's in L2 with those skills.

Lets not get too carried away after one good half of football.

I recall Akpan bossing the midfield against Pompey last season then flopped most other games.

Stupid of Vaughan to get involved. Boater needs to have words about his anger management issues. Gets booked every game just about.

I don’t think anybody is getting carried away but the second half in my opinion was a pleasure to watch after some of the stuff over the last couple of seasons. Let’s enjoy that whilst admitting there are still problems in midfield I think and hope Cooke is going to be a part of improving that

Did more in 25 mins than Scannell did in 18 months.

A very promising start for the lad.

Zeli beat more defenders in 20 minutes than Scannell did in all his time at city.
Note Blackpool lost today from being 2 up.
