As for my own opinion, we need an holding midfielder, left winger, another forward and a better left back. - Henley not the greatest and GB doesn't seem to rate Longridge.

Bit of a poor do if GB doesn't rate Longridge after he was the one who brought him in! I thought he must simply be unfit.

Yes I understand and don’t disagree, but we have to get the 1st team right, the. We can hunt for a striker preferably at the same time.

We desperately need a holding central midfielder - that will hopefully bring the best out of Palmer - someone of decent height and able to break up play with their positional sense.

If by any miracle we can get rid of Akpan that would be a welcomed bonus. On too many occasions he's offered absolutely nothing (Same again last night at Stevenage).

    Desperately need isn't quite right.

We would benefit from is more accurate.

We'd be play offs even without a signing imho.

If Akpan is behind Devine in the pecking order then he only has himself to blame.
I was watching him very closely when he came on yesterday. Numerous times he was stood in space when there were Stevenage players in dangerous positions needing to be marked. When he did occasionally pick up a man he didn't get tight enough, so they had time to turn or lay off a pass under no pressure. He twice coughed up the ball when a man of his physique ought to have easily withstood the challenge. His work rate was pitiful compared to Devine and others who were running themselves into the ground for the cause. He made hardly any tackles and when he finally did do so he mistimed it and was booked.

Yet again he just looked lazy and uninterested. Apart from a couple of headers and a few easy passes I'm struggling to recall anything positive he did last night. He's not even doing the very basics (running, marking etc) properly. I'm at a loss to see why he's anywhere near the first team on recent evidence. If we can't get a specialist ballwinner in we'd be better putting Paudie in at CB and moving AOC into defensive midfield. He would at least mark, tackle and put himself in where it hurts instead of hiding.

I think thats a sign of how poor this division is more than our ability. Saying that i’d expect any side with that forward partnership to hit the playoffs but would have to temper that thought with just how average our midfield is.

Was talking to a Carlise fan on holiday last week and he was raving about Devitt, said he's a very good player now but Carlise couldn't offer him more than a 1 year deal which is why he moved.

Great forwards and a rock solid defence will be enough for seventh.

No team has consistent quality throughout at this level, but it doesn't make the division bad, it just means we have some quality players who should be capable of achieving promotion.

Thanks Jon. I appreciate your comment, I do however see it as desperate to our promotion bid for this season, without that type of CM I think we'll to struggle to dominate the ball.

When we were promoted last time we had a more balance team in my opinion and a central midfield that could control a match when we were on top. I'd advocate seeing A O'Connor being played further forward at CM alongside Palmer (Once Paudie is ready for the first team).

Yeah, its an unlikely one. Wigan keeping on as he's a decent bloke in the changing rooms, barely plays for them.
