Genuinely would like to know what Doyles strengths are?

He has played as a lone striker, in a 2 up top and in a 3 up top and in ALL formations flattered to deceive.

He was equally effective across all roles.

Let's see how he gets on at Swindon. Then we'll have an idea if he really is rubbish or just yet another in the long list of players who were fine elsewhere but hopeless as soon as they played for us.

Unfortunately FFP wouldn’t allow all 3. I expect if one of those two gets injured you then play one up front instead of slotting Doyle in

He's done nothing for us ever, not even performed well. He's top scorer by virtue of being our penalty taker however that argument's been done to death. It's like with Akpan, saying oh well he's had a good career so he must be good despite being a senior player in the worst pro team in english football last season. Mccartan scored a similar amount from open play (7 to doyles 8) despite playing in less games and not being a starter all the time. So to me we lose nothing by getting rid apart from a loser with a big reputation.

We all expected him gone as soon as Vaughan put pen to paper. It’s taken longer than expected but I just hope we aren’t paying a good chunk of his wages still.

Can’t believe some fans still think he was a good player. He was dire

Let’s just all be bloody honest here....if we get forwards who give us goals, then we like them (can’t think of any high scoring strikers who our fans have slagged off). We have had too many shite forwards over the years - Doyle, McLean, Conlon, McBurnie, Boulding etc etc - too many to mention and we’ve certainly had our fair share. And the reason they’re shite? Cos they couldn't score often enough. It’s a huge frustration for all involved, especially us fans

V&D are the real deal, who will undoubtedly win us promotion, something not seen since Hanson & Wells, and Mills & Blake before them, and we should savour every moment

All the names to pick and McBurnie gets thrown in there. He'd be lucky to get in our team now eh?

Saw him yesterday for Sheff Utd. Not scored yet so apparently all their fans must think he's a waste of money.

It would have been great to have Doyle on the bench but not at the detriment to the rest of the squad.

If keeping Doyle meant we couldn’t bring in any more players then it’s definitely the right call he has gone

I knew putting Ollys name in there would get a reaction. But he wasn't good at the time and a hell of a lot of fans thought so. Obviously the lad has done brilliant and proven a lot of people wrong and he has benefited tremendously from Swanseas nurturing, something we could never have given him. Unbelievable how many now jump on the bandwagon and say he was a great player for us. He was given a chance and didn't score, and a lot of our fans grew impatient with him very quickly

According to the article in todays T&A, Swindon are picking up the bulk of his wages, which is brilliant news

And a lot didn't. Most people around where I sit (C Block, Main Stand) could see that he had obvious signs of class (movement, first touch etc) but was being thrown into L1 football far too early, so we're prepared to cut him plenty of slack. I heard more criticism of PP for this than I did of McBurnie.
I've never heard a single City fan say he was a 'great player for us'.
He clearly was a great player at youth level, where he scored for fun, but no one would claim he was great in our first team. He actually had very few scoring chances. But many recognised his obvious potential. If those who grew quickly impatient with him couldn't recognise class when they saw it that says far more about them than about McBurnie.

I've not known one person ever say McBurnie was a great player for us either, on the flip side of that i don't know one person that ever thought McBurnie would go any further than league 1 on his performances at City, based on the fact that he was shoehorned in to play a role because we had no one else. Had Parkinson had another big lump to stick upfront he would never have played McBurnie, he was hardly renowned for playing youngsters. I can't believe there is a city fan out there that believes he would make it judging by what they saw. It took a then premier league club to take a punt on what they had heard from scouts and other coaches in the game.

Assist of sorts in first game and yesterday repeatedly got blocks in and caused trouble at set pieces. Probably the reason Blades fans were chanting his name.
