If we get them 2 quality players where will we finish?
The teams full of trialists and our own youngsters happens every year.

We didn't play those 3 all together for the entirety of the Liverpool game so that's a complete moot point. I was referring to I believe the Wigan and Rochdale performances, where by all accounts it did work. I also completely disagree about the Liverpool game, granted they dominated possession but they're bloody Liverpool, their under 23 team would give most lower PL teams a good game. They also had Gomez, Ox, Lallana, Fabinho and Milner on the pitch, not to be sniffed at whatsoever and Brewster will be a first teamer this season. But for a marginal offside and a world class save from Mignolet (didn't think I'd ever say that) and that's a 3-3 draw.

Bowyer said as much himself that he went with the formation based on the Wigan game I believe so it isn't some bizarre-o out of nowhere tactical madness people think it is. He experimented with it in pre-season, it seemed to work against a better standard of opponent so elected to try it against Cambridge. It didn't work but for me it was about the players making poor decisions in dangerous areas as much as the formation itself.

I believe Ismail will play more than we think.

He started Henley and left back and he has always liked Mellor anyway. AOC won’t start once paudie is back I wouldn’t have thought.

Which just goes to show what utter nonsense this is. You say you won’t consider the Liverpool friendly because DVD didn’t play together for most of the game, BUT you will consider it for the Wigan game where it supposedly worked. WRONG..!

Against Wigan we went with 4-4-2, with Scannell on one wing and Vaughan and Donaldson up top together. Are you referring to Bolton (not Wigan), where we were beaten by a very patched up side decimated by players quitting????

Hi Fordy. I now agree with you about Anderson but not Devine. When he came on at the weekend he was calm and always seems to have time on the ball. Having said that we do need a quality central midfielder, someone who can put through a good ball to the front two. Also if we are going to play the system we started with on Saturday we need a decent no.10 type of player, Doyle isn't the answer.
As for Bowyer I think we need to give him time to turn the whole thing round. He said it would take a couple of transfer windows. I know it was hoped he would keep us up but I think is appointment was looking beyond last season with a view to rebuilding to come back.

Still so much needless negativity after one draw.

We weren’t bad on Saturday at all. We deserved to win the game. We are disappointed not to bag against 10 men but, in the words of Duke Nukem....”s**t happens”.

Roll on Grimsby to give them chance to make amends.

    Hi mate, like the post.

Our midfield is so weak that Devine can look half decent. He does seem to have time on the ball but doesn't really do any thing with it. He's an extremely poor Joe Cullen.

We urgently need more quality in the midfield. If Josh Wright was still here then he starts that's how poor the midfield is really.

In truth I don't care what Bowyer says. I care about results! His results at Bradford City and they've been poor. He says two windows but @BoingBoing@BoingBoing did cracking post earlier about signing about 10 players already and hardly using any of them. Now not saying he won't but with the Jan window tougher than summer window what are people wanting from that? Bowyer is making excuses for time for himself.

Bowyer knows he will be judged on results and the win ratio is a little poor,so far wouldn't you agree?

Klopp wouldn't have been able to keep us up last season.

You are shit stirring for the sake of it and its quite boring.

GB is accountable for any team he puts out and he knows it. So does the board. So do we.

You write posts like you are telling us something we don't know.

1 game into the new season and you come up with a thread like this and you actually have to state that its not a Bowyer out thread.

Give your head a shake mate.

Just coming back from a week away in France, so I missed the Cambridge game.

When the world is going progressively madder around our ears it's so reassuring to have something constant to hang onto - like a 'When do we judge the manager' thread from Fordy after the first league game of the season!
    He never disappoints.

Both managers have extremely poor win ratios at the clubs mates.

I believe Bowyer can turn it around but Town have tough games coming up.

How many times? You can’t judge Bowyer on last season! You should start judging him with effect from 3rd August.

They know local history and how quickly a club/clubs can fall from grace, once that downward spiral starts its not easy to stop.

Fair one, I wasnt at wigan just going off what I read from the T + A and my not too cracking memory. Neither of us were at the Bolton game yet Bowyer evidently saw enough in it to persevere. I'm not arguing the efficiency of the formation, just that it wasn't out of nowhere and bizarre as some on here have said. You also ignored the 'game' at Rochdale, where apparently it worked well again.

Do you shout wrong in people's faces when you speak to them in the real world or is it just when you're behind a keyboard and screen? I don't see what I wrote to get you so het up about it, take a chill pill man! I qualified what I said with I believe because I wasn't sure, all you had to do was point out that wasn't the case instead of being rude about it.
