RFL deserve Bulls leaving if they are so inept not to make them sign a lease after the last admin.

RFL will be left paying rent on the ground and having to keep to the lease they now have with the council

That's all part of the vision required. Too bad the council have committed to being the City of Culture. All the cash will be going on that no doubt. Quite how that will benefit the people of Bradford in the long term I'm not sure.

The debate about Odsal is a perennial one that crops up on stock car forums.
    Three things hinder motorsport returning:
    1. The pitch would need reinstating in the corners every time the Bulls played
    2. Rugby League is now a summer sport as is speedway and stock cars leading to a limited number of available dates which need to fit around Bulls home games.
    3. The cost of reinstating the track and safety fence.
If the Bulls move out two of the three problems ate solved.
Odsal needs to be a multi event venue. Too much money has been spent on grand plans that would cost £millions but haven't ever materilised over the years. A bit of realism needs to come in. Grand plans about hotels, all seater stadia with roofs on have been mooted before. It was the supposed reason why stock cars and speedway were booted out in 1997. It turned out to be another white elephant of a pipe dream.
Having suffered watching City play up there after the fire, I wouldn't want to go anywhere near the place again for football. Not even in some grand plan that will never get off the ground. It's miles from the city centre and a bugger to get to if you're not travelling by car.
We have a fantastic ground and for those of us who had to trek to L##ds Road and Bellend road and then Odsal, we dreamed of returning to VP. And for that reason alone I would never want us to leave VP. Too much history and heartache to forgo the place

    4. the drainage is fubar around the track .. It was considered uneconomical to repair the drains

    5. the coral stand is pretty much track side with zero runoff

Looking at where a majority of current fans for both clubs live means there isn’t a location that is easily accessible for both current groups. I can not see either club wanting to upset their loyal fan base

@king karl@king karl I haven't been up thete since 1997. Which is the coral stand side?
As an aside my mate ( whose a City fan) took his stock car up there for some kind of demo before and half time when the Bulls played the Cougars last season

Report in T&A seems to say that the Bulls can’t afford the £72,000 they have to pay in maintenance a year at Odsal. Don’t think they are paying rent. Only receive £150,000 from RFL. Can’t seeing them paying half the VP rent. They should move to Wagon Lane.

Thats just the rent - the yearly costs of being at odsal are nearer 400k

the 72k isnt the problem , although it was still 72k when they received 1.2 million from RFL each year in super dooper league ... thats their beef

That is the same argument City had when we dropped down the leagues. It isn’t the landlords fault the club are rubbish.

Thanks @king karl@king karl the exec boxes on the pits turn were built in line with the track so its feasible that the track is still servicable apart from bases for the dug outs and the lack of fence.

Bradford isn't a huge place, it's not like Bulls and City fans are not used to driving to the match.

Looking at what a lot of bulls fans are saying... they realise odsal has seen its day and valley parade is the only real option

Horsfall is too small and everyone says if they move out the city its game over

It isn’t but it is probably another 20mins drive on a good clear drive or an hour on public transport between the two

Makes sense for it to be fairly central. Without demolishing a few bits and relocating some business's I can't think of a site big enough. If they were to go on a demolition hit then I'd be looking at John St Market, the old Morrison's, The Star and all those old crappy shops on that side. All the way down to Sundridge Road really. Bradford would lose nothing that's cherished there.

I have not been back since City played there in 1986, but it still looks an awful place to watch sport

Could demolish that build, there would be plenty of room

Got me thinking, that was the last time I set foot inside Odsal: 12 December 1986, travelled all the way up from Weymouth (where I was living at the time) to watch us lose against West Brom.
