True. It did help when title thread changed to Vaughan signed and I went on T&A. I hadn’t realised he’d signed for a while. This signing will act as a signal of intent for other signings. If you have a contract with bonuses you want to have a realistic chance of achieving them

We’d be a fool to rely to only CD and JV. What if JV is injured or suspended or out of form etc.

Not sure that's strictly true. If he was on 2k a week, I think he would be deemed more than good enough as our third forward. If he goes, I think it will be a financial decision.

 

I wouldn't say just financial.

Gary has watched him play for half a season and could have made that decision for footballing reasons as well.

Possibly, but it would be difficult to argue he wouldn't be good enough as a back up striker in league 2 if he was on much lower wages.

 

We will not rely just on two, but if we get a chance of saving over £5k a week we will and bring in another and a loan to complete a line up of 4 strikers

 

Yes I agree. If he goes it will be down to budgets, and I’m sure GB will spend the wages more wisely on a younger model perhaps?
But, despite this Doyle is a proven goal scorer let’s not forget.

 

I have to say getting Vaughan and Donaldson in has surpassed my expectations for who we might be bringing in by a long way.

Hats of to GB he's doing the business and Rupp too tbf both of these players will be commanding decent wages.

Nothings guaranteed but on paper at least we're only a couple of players off a squad that every other league 2 clubs fans would be very excited about. If we can get a couple more in and off load or get Riley living up to his potential I'll be a happy man. Got a touch of excitement back into me for next season now.

I'd like to see a young striker with pace to
compliment what we've got.Creative midfielder
is essential and the experience up front should
take advantage of creative through balls.

Just hope we don't suffer early injuries in the
cloggers league!
