    Clayton should be very effective at this level and his hometown club might be the motivation he needs again. Bolton certainly didn’t see the best of him. Can’t be easy getting motivated to play when players aren’t getting paid etc

    In terms of pre season training, are players such as Donaldson, who are still technically contracted to another club until 1st July, allowed to train with us before then?

    Yeah, something I mentioned last week. I don’t understand why contracts run from 1July to 30 June, when ore-seasons starts prior to July.

    Surely the players should be contracted until 31 May and become free agents on 1 June?

    Funnily enough I thought Hopkin was exactly the right appointment at the time based on his time at Livingston against a backdrop of discontent like at City.

    The biggest problem was the tools he had to work with (ie the players who were already here).

    No complaints at all about The Don. He's done what he could in a poor team and always been there for us. My only regret with him is we didnt get him here earlier in his career. All the best Don and good luck.
