I was away at uni in London that day. A man on the tube heard my accent and asked if I was from Bradford and told me there'd been a fire. It wasn't until I got home and saw the news coverage that I realised how bad it was. But I think it has taken years of growing older to realise how devastating it was to so many; both at the ground and at home. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

    Bless you all.

I was born a few years after 1985 but the affect that this day has on my usually stiff upper lip parents breaks my heart every year.

Those that lost their lives and those that were, and still are, affected will always be in our thoughts.

Thoughts are with the people of Bradford today, those who lost their lives and all the families and supporters affected from that awful day.

Peace and love from the red side of the Mersey

Aged 3, I was ill that day. My parents as a result stayed home rather than go to their normal seats in the main stand.

We were lucky. Today our thoughts are with those that weren't alive or dead.

    RIP

Your right Ricky, it never leaves you. I still get very angry when ever I see pictures of it and a few years ago a program was on one of these cable channels about it and I burst in to tears. The next day I rang ITV (it wasn't on ITV but to me they filmed it and they had the duty of care to restrict it's use) and had a full on melt down with them.

I was lucky that day, my dad, brother in law and nephew were in the stand and had I chosen to go with them rather than go with mates in the Kop, the only seats my dad could have got were at the back. Because I went in the Kop he managed to get the last three on the front row of the stand and wasn't injured, though died of a heart attack 8 months later that to this day I put down to him never getting over the fire.

I can't bring myself to go to the memorial, never have and I doubt I ever will because I know I'd be in floods of tears. The day is marked with quiet thought, usually around the 3.40 time.

We never forget and it makes us what we are - a very special football club.

A few today with tears in their eyes no shame in letting your feeling out for that tragic day.
I used to break down when ever I heard "You'll Never Walk Alone" unfortunately it was usually played at most parties ETC that I have attended in the past its usually gets played at the end of the night and I have to make my excuses and take myself away somewhere quite, never be ashamed of crying mate it took me a long time to get over that particular song, can deal with it but I won't join hands and wave them above my head.

Same here. I was 10 and had just bought myself a Mars Bar at the kop kiosk near the main stand - saw the smoke and ran back to my dad, rest of the day is a blur.
    RIP

The pain never stops, on this day of the year, COULD I have done more ?
I have helped survivors, but not those we all lost.

That season I missed just 3 games in all- 2 away and 1 at home............. was that day.

I would have been stood in the upper paddock at that time right next to where it started. I chose to play football in some cup finals in London and would watch the game later that evening when I got home.

I am not religious but someone somewhere made me take that decision.
