Today has we all know is 33 years ago since we lost 56 of our fellow fans. What may or may not be going at our club at the moment today it is one day I couldn't care less. Some things are far way more important than football and I am sure everyone on here will mark their own respects at some point on such a sad day. As we stand shoulder to shoulder with Lincoln city may the 56 RIP

They Are Always Remembered And Never Forgotten

I always remember the many thousands of city fans who escaped with little or no physical injury but no doubt the suffered trauma and pain of witnessing such a dreadful tragedy. I don’t think something like that ever leaves you. We always will remember the fans who lost their life. City fans who went to celebrate a great season, but never returned home.

I was only 8 at the time and needed a few years of help to deal with what I saw it never leaves you.

    RIP to the 56.
Never forgotten by all generations of Bradford City and Lincoln City fans.
Like many that day, I was lucky not to be injured, but never forget the terrible images we saw.
I'm proud of our younger generation who weren't even born that awful day, such as my daughter, who join in with the tributes and I'm sure will pass down to the next generation so the 56 are never forgotten.

RIP to all those fans who died that terrible day, and I hope those with with physical and mental scars have found they are fading with time.

I was there that day and count myself lucky for getting out, but unlucky for having to witness it.

P.S and I’m by no means having a go at you @Ricky@Ricky, ( I like the message you wrote) but the term “the 56”, sounds so impersonal and almost commercial to me. I know that’s not what you meant, but I see it a lot and it doesn’t quite sit right with me.

    Sad day.

In particular, I will always think of Richard and Robert Ormondroyd. I went to school with them for four years and played football at Eldwick juniors with them. They were so young.

    RIP

Always a poignant day, can't help reliving how I got out and how easily things could have been different....

    Agree.

Fifty six people tragically lost their lives. Reducing them to "the 56" makes me cringe, I really dislike how this has become normalised in the last couple of years.

I always post this today as I think it's an amazing piece of poetry (Thank you Glenn)...

May 11 '85 is etched upon my mind,
A dream became a nightmare and turned happiness to fear,
The day I left my soul behind,
But could not shed a tear.

The sweet perfume of victory became the stench of death,
And whilst my heart beats soundly I never will forget,
From wisp of smoke to no more breath,
    It haunts me ever yet.

I came to praise my heroes out on the field of play,
I came to dance and sing and shout, to hold my head up high,
I came to take the pleasures of the day,
    I didn't come to die.

The newsreel of my memory plays a matinee,
A reprise of hurt and sadness, of deep remorse and ire,
That I could not help in any way,
    The victims of the fire.

I saw the anguish and the pain pervade the burning stand,
I saw the reaper laughing beneath the crimson sky,
And through the flames that panic fanned,
    I saw an angel cry.

Rest in peace you Bantams, rest in peace you Imps,
Two cities joined in pain and grief, your memory ever cherished,
The game you loved is different since,
    The fateful day it perished.

We grieve as one these years gone by and though it can be fraught,
We'll close our eyes and bow our heads, so glad to be alive,
We're all alone with just one thought,
    May 11 '85.

Can’t believe it’s 33 years since that terrible day.Its a day that all that we’re there will never forget.56 people were robbed of a future and many families devastated. The bigger family of all Bradford city fans and indeed the whole city of Bradford and Lincoln were also bereaved.
    RIP and god bless

33 years ago, seems like yesterday, welling up reading these messages, thinking of the families of our fellow fans that died today, and also those that were physically or mentally injured.

    RIP

A thought for all you Bantams on this day, I know there are some posters who were there on the day and I know it can't be easy for any of you.
RIP those who lost their lives that day, and love to those still carrying the trauma of loss.

I was 11 and watched it happen from the kop with my 2 mates. I can still see it like it was yesterday and there isn't a day that I don't remember it. I was naïve enough not to really understand what had happened for a few years but as I've got older I fully understand.

I get upset from time to time and I'll shed a few tears today but I consider myself lucky, we could very easily have been in the stand that day. I'll have 5 minutes to myself at 3.40 as I always have done, that's just my way.

    RIP friends

The 56 are never far from my thoughts. Today we remember them and the survivors who still suffer the physical and psychological scars of that horrible day. Never forgotten RIP xxx
