I just want this thread to say thank you to David Hopkin for the hard work he has put in with the squad. He most definitely was handed a poisoned chalice. Of course nobody forced him to take the job, but he probably didn’t realise how it would turn out. Of course he made mistakes, and spent several weeks trying to find the best formation that would work with the squad. As other have said a very lopsided squad.

Nevertheless he worked extremely hard to achieve the best results he could under very trying circumstances. He achieved the right formula in December and we scrambled back into contention of staying up.

I just wanted to pay tribute to all his hard work, as fans we don’t get to say goodbye to managers, and it was a shock when he left, so hopefully other BT contributors would like to join me in saying thank you, and goodbye to David.

Don't get me wrong he did put a lot of hard work into it and I bet it was uncomfortable at times. If he left at Gillingham he'd of left with pride, this way he leaves with zero pride, a transfer window and to keep playing long ball it w

I wish him the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do next, if he didn't change his high press and quick intensity I don't think we would be in the bottom four now. He must question himself thinking why did he revert back to long ball?

Good luck anyways David and thanks for your efforts.

From ‘Hero’ to ‘Zero’ is extreme. For me not a hero, but certainly not left as a zero.

He came he tried, and sadly did not succeed. I got the impression that he put a lot in to the role.

I think his decision to walk, was an honourable one and for that he should be commended.

Yeah, I was changing what I was saying but for some reason its not worked. He does leave with some credit but not much, the timing of him leaving is a real sickener considering where we are, who we play and the amount of games left.

For whatever reason, he didn't feel confident that he could keep us up and if he had come to that conclusion, I applaud his decision to walk away. I backed him from the start and never had him down as a quitter but since the turn of the new year, his comments, tactics, and dealings in the January window have been at times both questionable and bizarre. However, I am grateful to him for the fantastic job he did in improving the players fitness and for the shrewd signings of Caddis and O'Brien, (not sure if the loss of the latter was down to Hopkin not wanting to offer him a longer deal or if orders came from above on that matter but either way, a huge mistake). I wish him well for the future and hope that his decision to walk ends up being the greatest ever parting gift.

I liked Hopkin and wished he had a chance to play with his own team

He had passion and pride ... and I bet hes as gutted as us the way things turned out

I'm sure there's more to this story

Sorry dont get the love-in for Hopkin at all. He has actually left us in a worse position than when he took over.
I think he was out of his depth, and ran out of ideas too quickly

I will though thank him for resigning and wish him all the best at his next stab at managing

I like what he did off the pitch, in terms of fitness and making the players give a shit as well as the training ground differences he made.

However, on the pitch I'm afraid he was utterly clueless, and I'm not sure the players were confident in his abilities at all.

    He made the right decision.

He restored respect back into the role of Manager at our club. No ranting or raving on the sideline or falling out with opposition managers.

I’m not sure why it never worked but his recruitment in January was questionable to say the least. Whether it was his decision alone or his hands were tied, we’ll never know.

Good luck to him for future.

I’m sure he’ll think twice about joining a club in such turmoil (if there is one) again.

Tribute to a manager who failed miserably and resigned after less than 200 days. Unbelievable theses days.

The moral of the story is... "Don't say you're here for the long term" it'll come back and haunt you!

Had high hopes when he came in. Seemed to stumble into a winning formula in December and then did his best to dismantle it from there onwards. All the same good luck to him.

I'm sorry but what a load of rubbish, how can anyone in their right mind offer a 'tribute' to a manager with a terrible record as bradford manager, anyone would think he'd done wonders for the club, but he hasn't, he had an awful record as our manager and some on here want to have him down as a messiah!! Totally laughable thread!!

Yeah he quit after 6 months and left us in the relegation area. Granted it was a tough gig but thats usually the reason you got the job in the first place, the job wouldn't have come up if it was all plain sailing.

You must be joking. He could never be described as a manager.

Stood there, arms behind his back looking lost. Maybe he had aspirations to be the next Ure Geller and move the players using the power of his mind.

I would have preferred those posters who don’t agree he deserved a tribute to post elsewhere. I fully acknowledge he made mistakes, but then who reaches success without it? I do not think he is the messiah, we have had better managers and worse. However, I don’t think many have had to work in the environment that he did. Success is subjective in many cases, however he has not succeeded in keeping this club out of the relegation zone.

We lost Stuart when we were in 6th position, but there were ppl on here calling for his head after 4 loses. How many realise that their assessment of his tenure as manager was harsh?

I put this thread on because I think he deserves acknowledgement for his work at this club, I did so having received information that had me in a right old strop, so apologies for posting whilst angry, but I do not regret for one minute this thread, fine if you think I have lost the plot, post on other threads, but I would rather like to leave this one just for David.

Surley this thread is a wind up...Right?? Worst record of any City manager, clueless tactics and shocking transfer window. His best moment was walking away.

Can we all do a minutes clap next home game, on 20 mins? 20 represents his win ratio as a percentage during his tenure with us. Or we can clap on the 7th minute. 7 representing the amount of games he won out of 35.
    Fitting tribute I think.
