Excellent assessment Tarty. However, who the hell was going to be trampling a path to our door to take on Wright and Riley? Surely that was obvious to everyone connected with City.

I don't blame the two players although neither of them look up to league one standard. They were offered contracts and signed them. I know we've been through this and the blame lies squarely with Rahic. Ever since that poisonous little tw@t stuck his finger on us on the bloody map of his we were doomed. Everybody else at the club during his tenure was simply a firefighter, trying to put out the constant stream of fires started by Mr f*cking know it all. Even HopkinS, for all his managerial faults, is having to do this on a weekly basis because of what was left behind. Had matter of heart 2 been filmed this was the script ending, the clever kids knew this early on (TCA) as it was the inevitable outcome.
No reason you can't have a successful season next season but thats all dependant on how badly damaged the ship is. It took five years to build it, as @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler alluded to, it may take five years to repair it. Thats if it is repairable.

It doesn't though mate as many players are contracted to the club for a long time.

This is why knowing this he should of handled the situation better.

You've players contracted to the club then you need to increase team spirit. We are not a big enough team to go start ruling out players.

I'm thinking Mellor in goal, Ben Wilson up front as the lad looks to have presence and O'Donnell partnering him so he can find out what its like to have the ball pumped to him every time Mellor gets it.

I don’t blame the players for being at our club, and the blame is squarely laid at Rahic door. I am so angry with what has happened to our club, I didn’t think it was possible to supersede Richmond, but at least we got to enjoy the party, but this incompetence is beyond forgiving. I felt like this when McCall was pushed out of the door, I must have had a premonition of what was to come.

Its all rather sad isn't it. There wasn't even a mass turn on the players yesterday, just a realisation that Rahic is banging nails in our coffin even though he's disappeared off the face of the earth.

Hopkin was appointed in September. I believe a manager should have two transfer windows and a full year before he's judged so I'd say if things look no brighter by October it might be time to question Hopkin.
I've been reading The Livi Room message-board this morning and the contrasts and parallels with the current situation are striking. "To say I had my doubts about him would be putting it mildly. The season we were relegated he made some mind boggling team selections. Now he has completely won me over" is one comment and that was at the start of last season.
Yesterday was about as bad as it can get but I judge managers over more than six months. Daniel Farke was appointed at Norwich in May, 2017. He had the whole of that Summer transfer window, the January window and the season but Norwich finished disappointingly in mid-table. He then had the Summer, 2018 window but Norwich took only four points from their opening five matches. On 2nd September (two days before Hopkin arrived at Valley Parade) Norwich were a goal down with twenty minutes to go at their biggest rivals, a woefully bad Ipswich. Had Leitner not equalised and won them a point Farke would very likely have been sacked before the next match. Instead Norwich embarked on a superb run and now sit top of The Championship.
Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can, seldom found in women, virtually never in a football fan; to paraphrase the old saying.

    Disagree.

Norwich didn't finish disappointing in midtable at all that is where they were meant to finish plus he kept them up.

He clearly had a plan for them and a identity.

Hopkin has had 1 Jan transfer window and messed it up massively. So bad it looks like it's going to cost us badly.

We're not in the position to be patient. The mood is all wrong.

Players seem to have lost faith in Hopkin
Away support booing the manager and players
Home support booing the manager and players

The above didn't happen at Norwich. Fans were talking and that's it plus they're a championship club.

We're a div 1 club that can't afford to go down! We can't mess about. Plus you have to remember that a lot of players are contracted to the club and if he has lost the dressing room now or can't get a tune out of the players then how is he going to do it next season? Bradford City would be wasting their time and money.

Bradford City have to start making decisions and get timings right!

To be honest many of us knew (or at least strongly suspected) that McCall was left out to dry. He never was part of the Rahic master plan. It started to go wrong the moment the guy stepped into the VP door.
Fighting fires is probably the best description of the aftermath. We'll be fighting fires for a couple of years yet.

How do you know he has lost the dressing room Fordy? In the other post you state that 'I feel he has lost the dressing room'. Which one is it? Feel or know?? or are you just spouting speculative nonsense because it makes you appear as though you care.

    How do I know?

I go to games and watch closely.

    Fleetwood- Awful
    Plymouth- poor
    Walsall- dreadful.

Sorry mate. In all 3 games recently the players haven't produced at all.

Against Fleetwood it was claimed he didn't want to play long ball. We played long ball.

He has lost the dressing room. We're bad but not this f@cking bad!

Maybe performances tell you if the team are playing for the manager ?

Since Barnsley I see and feel something lacking from the team and the Fleetwood performance was the players playing a certain way of showing the manager that maybe trust in him is draining away.

So in other words it's just speculative nonsense. I haven't got a clue how saying such things is going to help the cause?
In a relegation dog fight there's always going to be raised emotions - fans, players and management staff. I'm not so sure that stating things as facts when it's just plain conjecture is going to help anything.

David Hopkin and how he and the team are performing are without doubt our biggest worry at the monent, but my over riding worry is will Stefan stay and keep financing the club.
We hear about the money he has/is putting into to keep the club afloat, building a new team from scratch is going to cost, I have no doubt Stefan has the finance to do it my question is does he have the stomach for it.

    Ok, you believe otherwise.

Clearly never played the game. It happens. See Chelsea and Utd for example.

We lost yesterday mainly down to desire! We're a bigger and better club than Walsall. That for me says all I need to know.

Now if you're waiting for a player to say the manager has lost the dressing room then you're clueless. It is shown on the pitch like yesterday!

I believe Hopkin said he had shown loyalty to certain players and changes will be made. He is no fool, he's played the game. He knows he's lost the dressing room and knows that he needs to make the changes to hopefully win against Pompey & have a chance of keeping his job.

1 point from 9 out of the last 3 games isn't being in a relegation battle it's totally unacceptable.

It's a massive concern mate but if he isn't you can only hope he sells the club to the right own or owners.

He didn't sign up for div 2 football, so I don't know if he will want to stay on.

Mate there was no dog fight yesterday.
Except from the Walsall players who dug deep and defended if their lives depended on it.

I think it was more pss poor defending and chances we didn't put away. It comes back to a defence that can't defend. Look at the replays. It's laid out for all to see. It's just basics. We've had the same problem all season.
