This is what you are up against, totally unprofessional behaviour. Holding the club to ransom so he can feather his own nest. He came to us as a professional footballer, his job is to train accept support, that is his job. If the manager has given you support and you either cannot fulfil what he wants you to do either by lack of skill, or application, then you find another more appropriate club. What you don’t do is demand more money after being on the injury list for 12 months plus!!

He can stay for me, complete training if he is fit, and do what ever; I have no idea what the club have offered but given the lack of value for money he should show some class, shake hands and walk.

My understanding is that in most cases Statutory Sick Pay has a mandatory period of 28 weeks, https://www.gov.uk/employers-sick-pay . Quite often reduced rates are paid to staff beyond that time, often half salary. However someone who has not been fit for work for a year, in a normal employment circumstances, would often be released from their job, as they were no longer capable of fulfilling their contractual obligations.

Apparently, ‘Under the Equality Act 2010, you will have to demonstrate that you have taken all appropriate steps to facilitate a return to work – including looking at alternative duties, hours and alternative roles where possible’.

So perhaps he can be given some office job! If he is unable to play again, this would assist him in developing alternative employment skills.

If........ and it is a big if, he has a Contract which was devised under the Edin stated model of 50% salary 50% performance pay, then the amount he is currently taking out of the player salary pot/wage bill should be relatively low.

As I said earlier, he should report to the club daily during the week, so that his injury can be moitored and he be supported. He can learn theories about midfield play and match management. He could be given other tasks to undertake, away from ‘kicking a ball’ if he is unable to carry out his playing role.

I don't think Reeves is even training, comes in every day for an hour and leaves. Also heard only 2 players care about what is happening at the club, the rest happy just to go with the flow.

    This wouldn't surprise me.

We've a lot of loan players and a lot of 6 month contract players.

A fair few bench warmers that don't get minutes.

It all boils back to extremely poor man management.

If I recall all the players went out (all of them) performances picked up then Hopkin acts like a bull dog saying x, y should leave. It doesn't work now. Just open the door! Be loving! Let players feel they've a chance to play.

Word will spread about someone's management style. Players want to feel wanted and loved. It's how it is now. They won't play for bulldog managers.

So we've two unsubstantiated rumours on this thread, which are undoubtedly true.
Reeves wants £30,000 to bugger off or else he stays put, and he only puts in an hour a day at the club. Oh, and only two players care about the club.
Anymore before I contact Simon Parker to break the scoops.

    Excellent point
Surely there is a job in the office/ticket office/club shop he could make himself useful doing
He could even be promoting match day hospitality/ corporate facilities Surely if you are unable to do your own job helping out others would give him a sense of purpose and belonging must be absolutely soul destroying getting up of a morning and have nothing whatsoever to do leads to all kinds of psychological problems
Think I have read somewhere that all the back room staff are working flat out sorting things

He wouldn't run it as an "Exclusive" even if you did so you would be wasting your time.

Sean Scannell continues to step up his recovery after nearly five months out with a fractured back. The Bantams boss hopes to be able to factor the winger back into his plans in the next month.

He added: “Sean has been running now for three weeks so hopefully it won’t be long before he joins in with us again.

“We’re coming into March, which will be a massive month for us with the number of games. We need to make sure everyone stays mentally and physically strong for the final 10 weeks we have of the season.

“There’s a spring in the step that we can go on another run shortly and start turning these draws into victories.”

I know it's unsubstantiated b*ll*cks, but who would be the 2 players who care about the club? Billy Clarke and who else :)

With fans wanting Reeves in 9-5 I think this could be the admin job that would satisfy them. Give him a hard hat, clipboard and hi viz vest he can, like you say, tick them off when come in and go out. He could also sort the car park out in the school when parents collect kids or take kids to swimming lessons.

    It's a nightmare!

Scannell might be available in March. He has been running for three weeks; don’t want to criticise DH training, but it is a long time to run;)

I just find it bizarre the club haven't made any kind of statement, even if it is some kind of mental health issue - just don't give specifics.
We've a player we paid money for, who initially looked promising and has been taking a wage for nothing for ages.
