There were times yesterday when he needed to look for an outball quicker, Caddis is already thinking where he wants the ball to go before he gets to it whereas Chicksen gets caught with it. Still maintain Wood is better.

Agree. Chicksen is very lightweight. O brien actually blocked more crosses than chicksen who doesn’t make an effort to close down the winger. The spate of crosses raining into our box has slowed to a trickle from the right due to Caddis being a proper defender first and then an attacking support second.
However it’s noticeable that teams look to attack city targeting chicksens side.
He isn’t a proper defender and when he tinned out of that tackle the crowd vented their frustration. Well I did anyway. New left back required.

I agree. Stick in a better left back and centre back, with Scannell to come back - a maybe add a winger and a striker so we’ve got options, and we should start to move up the league

Initially, the tactic was very much to isolate Caddis using their tall winger (was it Wooton?), and Caddis didn't win a challenge for 10 minutes.

But Scunthorpe's tactics fell apart after the goal, and it wasn't clear what the plan was.

I don't remember them isolating Chicksen, though.

I personally think Chicksen is getting to much stick from fans. He his far from the best fullback we have had but not the worst. People need to get off his back and support the lad. Our manager seems to be happy with him giving him game time.
By the way The Football League Paper gave him an 8 for the Scunny game

He's not our worst ever but he isn't very good. Bottles tackles, doesn't read situations well defensively, doesn't offer much in attack other than a decent cross when he actually has some time and space.
He is the weakest link in our poor defence and should be a priority to replace as clearly HopkinS doesn't want to play the young ones whilst we are around the bottom.

He had a better game against Scunthorpe.

The whole defence still looked ropey, in truth, and we got out of jail because of some poor finishing.

They had a header at back post that could have gone in and one lad had a volley he slid in for and smashed over the bar. Both times we would have been punished by a good team.

That said, it could easily have been 6-2, so good we looked going forward. :)

I think Hopkin wants him in the team because he has the capacity to play a high energy pressing game.

He isn't the strongest defensively. However, he got stuck in today and several times broke play up or chased the ball back.

In the first ten minutes be was almost always in the final third. He will be exposed doing this at times, but he can clearly perform a role for the team.

I wasn’t at the game today, however I was at Sunderland where he had a very poor game, so it’s very pleasing to hear that he had a vastly improved performance today.

Doesn’t matter how well he plays he won’t get any credit. He is the new scapegoat

Wood should be playing. Surprised that Hopkin doesn't select him. Wasn't Chicks on McCall signing?

He was better than usual today but still bottled two challenges in the first half. No more than a 6/10 and a new LB is still required.

He’s just poor offensively and defensively, today he was slightly better but given his current form that’s not saying much. My biggest concern with Chicksen including today is his ability to shit himself in a challenge, I think that awful injury he got has effected his bottle

    @Park bantam@Park bantam says he’s a scapegoat that’s frankly bollocks
