    Good question but I was thinking about how it is a cracking example of providing something before the game. Building the experience if you like. Not wanting to bash anyone but if Accy can do it, surely we could.

    Surely we could but... There would just be people moaning that the beers no good, the bands are crap, it facing North/South and should be East/West... The money spent could be put into the player budget. Blah blah blah. ;)

    I reckon it would be a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't been done before... Though maybe it has and it didn't work out... The last game I got to was in 1990 so who knows what's happened since. :)

    I've been trying to champion this for years @Tennesseebantam@Tennesseebantam
    City could and perhaps should do a lot more to making matchdays an 'experience'. Crowd arriving anytime from noon, and not leaving till perhaps 6 PM would certainly ease congestion on the roads.
    I'm never in a rush to get there, and I definitely don't stay after the game.

    As they now have restricted road access on matchdays, perhaps invite local traders in, selling continental foods etc ? It would be a reason to turn up early, and fans would probably engage more.

    Am going that way for the alpaca farm just before colne with the little lad . Which is a pre match first for me :joy: pub in colne could be a good shout thou to get things back on track

    My usual pre match beer is in a good old traditional Bradford pub, where I can get a seat and have a good chat (moan).
    They can have street/tent events like the Accrington one, when we get gates approaching 24,000, but I am more than happy supporting a business, which would struggle without the football crowd.
    You know that many pubs in general are finding it hard to survive, so why dilute their 23 (or thereabouts) pay days, which keep the business afloat.
    Looking at your old Shipley stomping ground, then not only have they closed the Oddfellows (a pub I never went in, as it looked like a morgue & sold John Smith's) and the Branch. Additionally both buildings have been demolished. Put simply Pubs around VP, rely heavily on football supporters custom.
    @Offcomedun@Offcomedun , @Ulysses S Grant@Ulysses S Grant , @Tennesseebantam@Tennesseebantam and @Bronco@Bronco all know where I go, pre kick off. So far this season, it has been the highlight of the match day!

    Sorry, Rod. I hadn't intended to make it appear I was 'stealing business' from our locals. :)
    I seldom go for a pre match pint (or moan ;) ), these days .............. I don't have time, ha ha ha. But on occasions I do, I just want something a little different ......... Something which attracts me to VP other than 90 minutes of football. :)

    Might sound a bit odd Rod but I tend to think those that use a regular watering hole would stick with it . But at the same time, others might take advantage of something like this. Absolutely see your point though.
