Lived there most of my life , you ought to walk up towards asda from the centre it's like a scene from Shaun of the dead .

 

Makes Raqqa look like Paris - and most of the inhabitants wander around like they’ve taken some form of minding bending drugs.

 

It's ok is Shipley, far worse places within Bradford. I've just helped a pal move into the flats behind the Fox bar. Why? Because for similar money to a Bradford hell hole flat you have station access to.............Leeds. Bradford and Skipton too of course, Saltaire next door, throw in some culture at the mill and Caroline club, the park and cycling along the canal and he's chosen that and a longer commute rather than rent nearer.

 

As I say our football club comes before any owners, unfortunatly if Hopkin does bring us sucsess that will mean these two hang around longer and that doesn't fill me with optimism.
Whats with this new phrase " Stefan & Edins business and sports plan" are these the new buzz words ?.

 

We are going nowhere, with or without Mr Hopkin, the next move will be from Rupp when further investment is required, which it will be.

 

This is not quite true as Lawn did not want to sell anyway but was outvoted, The club was not on the open market as such but when an offer the Rhodes felt met their valuation then they could not turn it down and they accepted it, Had they put it on the market more offers would have come in eventually.

 

When you say it wasn’t on the market what do you mean? They had said they were open to offers, what more do you want? A Robert Watts For Sale sign stuck to the side of stand

 

Lived in and around Shipley until i met the missus. Nowt wrong with the place. As you say Saltaire on the doorstep and easy access to places like Leeds, Ilkley, Skipton etc. Some decent places to live as well.

 

They kept saying it from the moment Lawn bought in to the club while in truth it was not, When they did make it known they were serious they had offers that were turned down or failed, Had they waited there would have been other offers apart from the Germans, Lawn did not want to sell anyway he was forced in to agreeing because the Rhodes had two thirds of the shares,
There is ALWAYS a buyer for league clubs, Weather you get the valuation you want is another matter

 

I think the Quote from Lawn was there were no serious offers.

 

Lawn always said the club was for sale, and he talked a lot about tyre kickers wasting everyone's time. So we weren't inundated with offers then and are not now despite rumours of mysterious consortiums.

I recall a small local Asian consortium 'showing' interest. They wished to 'see the books' - I believe ML's response was "Not without a serious Offer".
An old Asian friend of mine (An uncle was one of the group) told me ML was courteous, and explained a few home truths to the party. They were shocked and stunned at the overheads, and soon withdrew their 'interest'.

 

Double money offer

I think if they are only here for the money then a double your money offer for 2 years work might have appealed, some will believe anything.

The club is now less valuable than when they bought it, nobody will offer what they paid let alone double.

 

More than likely ........ As @Captain Grumpy stated - The Club will attract a few 'Tyre kickers' with a passing interest, but little more, imo. If you DON'T know football at Board level, then keep well away, is my advice.
The large and full Penny tray always looks appealing - But once you've chosen 'one of each' and it's going to cost you half a Crown, you soon see your Tanner is just not enough, and almost worthless, by comparison.
You entered the shop full of hope and joy - but left disappointed. The good news is you still had your Tanner - Others spent their money and were still left disappointed - and no money left !
