I know results are everything but I only saw the second half yesterday but I thought we worked hard closed them down well and when we did get it forward we did pretty well and scored two goals. Their goals came from a piece of clumsy work and a mistake from the keeper.on the second half display on its own we at least deserved a draw. However now just as last season we have a big absentee list which every club in this league would suffer from

First priority should be to revert back to a back 4 and teach the centre halves how to attack a ball in the air. All Blackpool had to do was pump it long and straight and we looked like a pub team at the back.

I’d go 4 at the back but as mentioned I think Hopkin prefers a 3/5 at the back.

They need well drilling as a back 3 and not sure we will get that for a while and given our lack of points we might need something that works.

As for selection if we go 4-5-1 who do we play out wide? Full backs?

Go on then @Park bantam@Park bantam, I'll humour you. Who exactly are these absentees that are really going to make a big difference to our season?

    A 4-3-3 for me.

Jack Payne floating behind Ball and Doyle would, imo, prove to be more than decent for this division. Unfortunately that's where the good news stops. The other 7 outfield positions are filled with players that either aren't performing or, more likely, simply aren't good enough to perform at the standard we need.

I agree sometimes in a back 3 or back 5 with 3 Center backs they hide behind each other and we end up with no one committing to Head it clear.

McArdle would have won everything yesterday and we’d have come away with a 2.0 win

That's the real problem at the moment isn't it. I've no faith in any of our full backs and there doesnt seem to be a lot of wide attacking options without Scannell and Robinson.

Couldn't agree more although it'd still probably have been undeserved on the balance of play.

Full backs are gonna have to play there for the time being. Riley and wood? And say to them get forward where possible but double on wide men and lets get tough to beat again.

Really isn’t going to be pretty but should get some points on the board and allow the wingers to come back.

But someone winning all those headers, they wouldn’t have known what to do.

Would have been a smash and grab but teams who deserve to win don’t always win. Way it goes

Apparent yesterday. I don't think they are hiding, more about no one knows who to pick up and they then look left out. Also, with a three, the likes of Mellor and Wood aren't sure whether to go forward or come back, it left space down the flanks and then our centre backs aren't sure when to cover. All looks square pegs in round holes at the moment.

3 at the back in a poor team rapidly becomes 5 at the back and on the backfoot with little going forward ie fecked,
The only way to play is 4 at the back at this level.
DH prefers 3 in his previous job but that was in Scotland where you can play 3 or 4 or 5 or any number you like at the back because they are all mostly crap

    Agreed.

I’m not liking hearing DH plays 3 at the back.

Grayson took 8ish games to find out it didn’t work. Collins took 2 games, but still kept on playing it. Our defenders, especially NKP, simply don’t know how to play in it.

Keep it 442, with perhaps NKP at left back.

We've already tried that and look where it's got us.

We need to be more solid.

    4-4-1-1 then.

    Or 5-3-1-1

    Payne behind the forward.
