Do I detect the merest hint of a mischievous twinkle in the @Bigrod -ian eye in these posts? I can just imagine the MInister for Football having to deal with an angry Chelsea complaining they can't possibly continue on the allotted income of (say) 100 million sterling, and right after that with a befuddled Accrington who can't believe that all those zeroes after the 1 are correct! The bureaucracy needed, the logistics of it all, would be daunting, and unlike Shaw (cf. the 15 quid an hour wage thread) I can't believe in a government being able to pull it off. So it's a "no" from me.
I do take your point that the current system is somewhat sub-optimal, especially in terms of money and its circulation. Your last point about increased taxation, and subsequent redistribution of the proceeds down the pyramid could work, as long as the taxation levels don't become unreasonable.

OK I am PM now so I am gonna hold a referendum on whether I should open the door or not and go in. I will then go with whatever you decide. I am neutral on door opening and remain so until the referendum result.

I've heard it's in Corbyns manifesto.
Free Premier League tickets for everyone if Labour win the election. -
Exactly equal money would be distributed on a ‘fair basis’ at the beginning of May and then the clubs would have to operate a players budget on that basis. In respect of high earners, “Corbyn had in morning interviews where he said he would like there to be ““some kind of high earnings cap, quite honestly” and suggested it could cover star footballers as well as highly paid CEOs”. This is from the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jan/10/corbyn-proposes-maximum-wage-for-all-government-contractors
In more general terms, “Labour will go further and extend that to any company that is awarded a government contract. A 20:1 ratio means someone earning the living wage, just over £16,000 a year, would permit an executive to be earning nearly £350,000. It cannot be right that if companies are getting public money that can be creamed off by a few at the top.”. Extend that philosophy to football and the stewards/turnstile operators get a huge pay rise, or footballers and management take lower salaries.
It has already been suggested that, ‘Among several initiatives discussed by Corbyn were plans to allow supporters’ trusts to buy shares when clubs change hands and to give fans an active role in hiring and firing members of club boards. Corbyn also said that a Labour government would mandate that a portion of any revenue generated by broadcasting deals has to be invested directly into upgrading clubs’ academies’. This is from the New Statesman, so like the Guardian, not some right wing Tory media baron controlled rag! https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/sport/2019/10/mike-ashley-jeremy-corbyn-picked-perfect-example-his-attack-football-club
At the moment that is tinkering with the system and momentum needs to gather, in forcing a socially equalising policy. The present system just allows the rich to get richer, there has to be governmental intervention. Perhaps huge taxation of Premier League clubs and redistribution of the wealth across all clubs!
Corbyn has just danced at the edge of this issue! Not sure what other parties takes are on this, but a fresh start with a nationalised industry is surely the way forward? -
