It's not lazy, it's true. I've watched football live for 50 years and wouldn't have a hope in hell of picking a team, playing the right formation and knowing who would and who wouldn't fit into my style of play.

Most managers fail at someplace, but it still means they know more than 99.9% of the punters.

Taylor has his limitations and like any player on this team, can be improved on. But we've gone on a three game winning run with him playing virtually every minute. Yet no one else's mistakes are being micro analysed like his are. Conceding 1 goal in those three games yet apparently being crap yet not choosing to dig out the mistakes of others is nothing more than a personal attack.

Taylor has been steady away the last couple of games and certainly no worse or better than the other centre halves.
It will be interesting to see if Alexander goes for Stubbs or Tomlinson, who probably needs a run out next tuesday. Non of us know what he can do.

No one said that they don't know more than the fans, that would be a daft statement.

The point I was making is that they aren't always correct.

Everyone I talked to at half time, mentioned him at half time - without prompt and it wasn't complimentary. He got away with a nervous half, because Accrington simply were not at the races and if they played like that all season would be where Forest Green are.

Now second half, he looked better and guess what so did all the team. So it's feasible I suppose he could play in this system and us not suffer - but I'd be surprised.

I just don't think he's suited to a back three. Pair him next to Critchlow in Hughes's system last year and yes, he would probably be OK.

Correct. Managers operating on a budget are just lucky if they happen to assemble a promotion winning squad, it’s not good management.
Managers operating with unlimited budgets eg. Pep are also not good managers, they just buy the world’s best players.
    Players win games, not managers.

Well I didn't say the manager knows more than you, but he obviously does

And lets be fair, McCall was a terrible manager when Rehman was here. And for the record, yes I did think he was one of the worst defenders ever to grace the VP turf

Hahaha Ash Taylor has his own thread?

Okay, I get that he's clumsy on the deck and had a terrible debut performance, but aside from the red he hasn't done too much wrong. He made an error in the Accrington game, but nothing Smallwood didn't do against FGR.

Due to his red card, he'll have to work his way back into the team having only just established himself. Seems fair.

Stubbs has the opportunity to cement his place like he did last season now.

    We move forward.

Why are you bringing running into it?

He doesn't need to run anywhere to have a shot at goal!!

Let's be clear, he wasn't 40 yards out. It was 30 yards at most. Go and have a look at the highlights. Platt was not running towards their player. He was running towards their other forward. Halliday was trying to get back but there was no way he was getting to him until he was at least on the edge of the box.

Go and watch the video and then come back and debate it if you want.

To be fair, it only seems to be two or three posters who are posting about how bad he is. I think he's steady away really, not promotion quality, not relegation fodder and have been pretty pleased with his recent performances.

Compared to some of the CHs we've had recently he's an improvement and they never got the abuse in the same measure, just seems certain posters have taken against him and the poor lad can do no right.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Pep is an outstanding manager who has won titles everywhere he has been, ok he's fishing in a different pool, but not to the likes of Klopp, Ten Hague and whoever this week's manager is at Chelski.

Managers assembling the right blend of a squad, playing the right tactics and instilling the right values win titles. Leave it to the payers and you'd win nothing.

Perhaps it was Taylor upping his game in the second half that led to the rest of the team playing better ? Everyone around me had Taylor as a possible candidate for MOTM

Taylor is fine when the ball is in the air but an absolute carthorse when trying to defend on the floor.

He's also prone to at least one howler a game - gifting Accrington their best chance on Saturday and getting sent off last night being the most recent examples. Of course players make mistakes but his always seem to be more consequential than others.

Stubbs is a far better player, even if he hasn't quite been at that level this season. Hopefully he's back in the side next week and keeps the shirt.

He's been better than I expected but I'm not going to let the fact we've had two clean sheets form part of my appraisal. I've never understood why people draw conclusions from this. It's the same with goalkeepers. Goals conceded doesn't even come close to painting the full picture. A car crash defender can play in a sequence of clean sheets but still be absolute sh*te. Equally you can have a very good defender who concedes a hatful. Staring at numbers and drawing conclusions is a mug's game.

It’s not a ridiculous thing to say at all. Managers are only as good as the tools they have at their disposal.
If Pep was manager of Burnley they’d still go down.

Can't see the justification in the criticism for the sending off. Just seen the highlights and if that's a red, many matches would end up 7 a side.

It's a yellow all day long.
