One qualifier , the odd one or two are bankrolled, the rest are heavily in debt to third parties. Doesn’t excuse our performance QC , by any means . So better run, is stretching it by a long, long way.

I've said elsewhere before that we claim to be run on a "sustainable basis" but that is a misnomer.

What we actually run on is a "debt free basis". Which is something entirely different and actually stifles any hope of growth.

As you've rightly pointed out, mortgages are part of personal growth involving debt and as long as the payments are serviceable then the debt is fine.

I'd never advocate for us to be in the same sort of debt following the Premier League years. Obviously that was at an insane and completely unsustainable level, but targeted investment is not only fine but I would say desirable for creating growth and improvement.

Were we RT? Didn’t the club owe Messers Rhodes and Lawn a boatload of cash at high rates of interest? Memory fades but I’m sure they had to be paid off because they had lent the club money to stop it folding. I can’t be bothered checking but …?

Entirely agreeable. That’s the risk the owner won’t take sadly!

The thing that baffles me with all the 'Rupp in' voters is the excuse that no one else is out there who would invest.

That's fine, if you believe it to be true, but isn't it also true that we are self sustainable and by definition Rupp "invests" a total of zero every year?

Because if that is the case, why would it matter if the next owner/s is/are much poorer given that he/they would only need the funds to purchase the club and it would still function perfectly safely without the threat of financial issues or bankruptcy?

Out of interest how would you like someone to answer that? Or are you just trying to trip people up with the weakest argument possible as you’ve little left to defend this crap with? Do you expect posters to have a list of business men and women eager to get into football? Fans have no say on who buys their club, of course there’s a chance they could be worse but it’s the risk you take. I’ll tell you something you’re blatantly unaware of at the moment, posters like you are shit scared of risk but what you don’t understand is standing still and not investing in private businesses is a massive risk as your competitors race past you and you shrink. That’s capitalism for you. So yes there’s a chance it could be worse but also a chance it could be better. Here’s a nice little stat for you, I’m sure it’ll go in one ear and out the other but I’ll waste my time anyway. Only Bury who went pop and Scunthorpe have dropped more league positions since Rupp took over than we have, let that sink in for the other clubs you mention that are worse run, actually in terms of football on the pitch they aren’t.

You also keep quiet until we beat a bunch of kids, your opinion would have help a bit more weight had you been spamming the Notts County thread after the game instead. Still I hope you can jump to Rupp and Sparks’ defence after we trounce Accy as we are in desperate need of the points.

Jesus. I hope that KPI is slapped across every whiteboard in VP and Woodhouse Grove. That's embarrassing.

As my memory is somewhat like a sieve, i look back to what were bad times when Lawn came in, he then lent the club i think it was a milllion. We then had the saviour of Parky who generated money through the the promotion, the cup runs and the sale of Wells. Couple that with 5 years of steady progress and the rising crowd numbers that came with and without looking at the books i'd say we were pretty safe financial wise. I'd even go as far to say it was probably the number one selling point of the club to the Germans. I'm just trying to add balance to a narrative portrayed by some that Rupp has somehow been the caped crusader and saved our club. This idea that he could have just walked away and left us to our own demise when he had at least £6 million to potentially lose.

So the new owners would need to keep Sparks on to drive the commercial side ;)

I suspect we won’t see any savours riding in on a white charger until we do! These type of transactions are normally kept super quiet until it has virtually been a done deal. As we know Rupp wants what he wants which is a high asking price.

Have a look back at the Newport thread. Exactly the same then nothing for the subsequent losses.

If they believe he's the best man for the job then yes, I suppose so, along with the rest of the commercial team.

Wow. What a bloody depressing fact that is, even more so when you read it back a couple of times

I'll be putting this firmly in my weaponry for future use against the blinkered morons who persist with defending the shit-show we are in!

to counter Park why are other clubs which on paper aren’t as attractive of us getting taken over? Rupp is asking too much and most likely there’s no active seeking of investors or someone to takeover.
This may be a reluctance on Ryan’s part too-if someone takes over does he get pushed out? For the record I’m for keeping Ryan to the club but with the commercial remit

Out of interest, why would you prefer to leave the commercial remit with Sparks whose background is in media management when we already have a successful commercial specialist in Davide Longo, the Commercial Director?

I think we’re more Sparks out of his CEO role than out of the club completely. As I mentioned earlier, I think he’d be perfect for the head of marketing/communication role that’s currently being advertised. Something he’s good at. The CEO job is just too many hats for him to wear, and we need someone with experience and focus, rather than one fairly green bloke trying to do it all. I think he’d work well with an experienced CEO, and if we lose him from the club completely, I feel it would be the clubs loss.
