If he did not want the job, then why accept in the first place. He could have walked away after the interview and said nothing and non of us would be any wiser.
You do realise he was going to be announced at 6 pm on Tuesday, but changed his mind, for whatever reason.
This is just another reason for you to bash the club, your real hobby.

Trying to be diplomatic….by saying something that makes oneself look absolutely stupid. It might work for you but that’s not how life works. Think about it first eh?

What bit of interviews work both ways don’t you understand?

Sure he did want the job, spoke the club then thought sack this off. Basket case club. It happens everyday in working life.

The "changing his mind"-ness of it all isn't the thing that annoys me out of the situation. It's the fact we are back to square one after 4 and a half weeks of this crap. I'd have fully got behind Cowley, think most would but the fact he's not only turned us down, but it's become so public, that's the pain because we have to go back to potential candidates and negotiate again which delays their first sessions and evaluating what we need in January etc. But mainly, it's a clear public message that whoever we pick isn't our first choice.

The next manager already comes in with a "well, he's only here because Cowley didn't fancy it" tag if this starts to go badly. Imagine Sparks either had to call other candidates to say sorry we are going with Cowley, only to be turned down. Or, now he has to call up the other choices who already know they weren't intended to be the man and might well drop out to wait for a job where they feel wanted from the start.

    Exactly.
Why would a man with no affinity to the club, make himself look a right pillock.
I am sure other prospective employers might think , why offer him the job, if he accepts then goes back on his word.

The top and bottom of it was that he was not up to the job. When you start putting obstacles in your way rather than solutions that is when you say not for me. Which he eventually did.

What it also confirms is that Sparks finds it almost impossible to match the Bradford City DNA to the talents of a manager. We need to understand this and bring in help/support. My worry now is panic has set in and we end up appointing anybody just to fill the post. However, in my view that would be catastrophic. We could be here again by Christmas or New Year. Let Truman see how he gets on, while we get support in.

What bit don't you understand, after the interview, he accepted the job.
Was to be announced before the Man city game, but in between changed his mind.

So how would you have done it , WITHOUT the knowledge that Cowley would turn it down at the 11th hour and without KNOWING Cowley would come up with the most ridiculous excuse that not even a 10 year old would come up with.

What would you have done differently without any of this knowledge in advance?

Why do you always sign off your posts with a little dig that makes you sound like a stroppy 15 year old girl? It makes you come across really badly on here. I'm not sure why you persist in doing this. You seem very frustrated.

Yes, he might have accepted the job and then turned it down. Any, that happens every bloody day. Nothing wrong with it.

Parky was manager then spoke with Rupp and thought f this and left. Happens!

I would have turn City down also. It’s a mess!

I'm not saying there is anything to be done differently. I'm just saying for my point of view this is the biggest pain and annoyance to come out of it, the potential ripples this farce can cause with the next guy in line. Not the best starting spot in a job.

Maybe the potential managers are reading this message board and thinking , my god the supporters are a right bunch of whining t###ers . I don't want to get involved. They will boo my team of the park if we are not wining after 5 minutes and playing football like Real Madrid.

It's not a great start. However, ask Spurs fans if they are bothered that Ange was second choice? Or Celtic fans for that matter?
    They can still work out.

The expectations of the club were too high, maybe Sparks said a play off place is still within our reach and that's their goal.

No, Parky did not like Rahic and his i am in control of everything attitude, i think he might have been ok under Rupp solely and his hands off approach.
Yes it happens all the time in all walks of life, including football. Danny Cowley has the same right to change his mind as everyone.
Its just knocked us back in the search for Hughes replacement.
We still are playing football and have a match to get behind whoever is in charge on Saturday.
A good run in the cup, could help fund January's tranfers.

Is there still 90 points to play for 50+ and we could reach the playoff's again and should be with this squad of players.

The task to find a manager out of the managers available was an extremely hard task. None us were jumping up and with glee at the prospect either. Not that bothered the Cowleys turned us down. He could have always kept his mouth shut of course, but no he wanted to keep his name in the headlines. Other prospective employers will take this latest mistake into account.

I am not sure we should be going back over the rejects, unless he brings in support/help to see if he missed a golden nugget. This puts us in a very difficult position, we now have to be managerless for awhile. It will take some sorting out. I just think we have dodged a bullet. Sparks needs to be a very big man and admit he needs support.
