I have explained my reasons for haunting this site on more than one occasion this month my fellow near septuagenarian.
Nothing is certain in football as shown by the managers who have been great successes at one club and dismal failures at another. But the likelihood of Holden succeeding is a fraction of the probability the Cowleys will.

One other point regarding Mr Rupp. Get this appointment right and no-one will be questioning him a year from now.

If its a manager out of work why the delay in announcing him, surely if we have decided the sooner he is in and getting on with the role the better?

They showed they could ability wise when McDonald took over temporarily. Whether any manager can coax a long winning run out of them attitude wise is another matter.

The truncation leaves no question mark at all. They were top when it ended and you can only get to top by winning the matches you have played. There is no evidence to suggest that they wouldn't have stayed top.

As for Holden, he doesn't do anything for me, especially if Cowley is an option. Obviously both can fail or both could be a success, but on balance, Cowley looks the most likely to be succesful. I hope I'm wrong, badly wrong, but if we appoint Holden I see us being back having this discussion again next time the clocks go back.

Imagine if it was all but done and dusted and about to be announced but said manager is now on route to Gillingham.

 

If Sparks goes for Holden, you would think that puts Sparks in the last chance saloon.
The appointment doesn't make a lot of sense.

 

Maybe who makes the decision see a man who just needs chance for his first success in management or he's just cheap.

 

Parky had failed at Hull & Charlton, so we can't say it won't work.

It's a daft comparison. Nowhere have I seen Charlton expected to get promoted or have a Top 5 budget - so for them to win nearly half their games in the 2nd half of last season, was a reasonable achievement.

Do it from the start of a season and that's 69 points guaranteed.

Are you expecting someone to get us promoted this season? If so we'll have to buck a trend as this hasn't been achieved since 2014/15 - and even then it's only because Gary Rowett left Burton at top of the table!!

 

So what? There's no taking out of the club either. Isn't financially sustainable the best model out there? Or do you want him ploughing tons in per season and then suddenly wanting it back.

And he did cough up to cover the Covid losses, which is why we did better than virtually all the L2 clubs around us at the time and why the likes of Rochdale, Oldham and Scunthorpoe have done worse.
