Seems like a weird one on paper, but might have impressed with his plans? As said before, he has a very good coaching rep. Looking through his career, not sure over the Bristol sacking as he did lose 6 on the spin but they were 13th in the Champ at the time, which I'd say is about where Bristol City should be at best.

Charlton one is odd as it was pretty much set from their takeover in the summer that they wanted their own man in and Holden out. Budgets were trimmed and Charlton had 28 players on first team contracts leave over the summer window on loan or permanently. They signed 7 and brought 5 in on loan, so practically a complete rebuild at Charlton, and he was given 6 league games.... he was always going to get sacked in no time this season.

No matter who gets the hot seat, half the forum will go into meltdown and bide their time for the “I told you so” moment.
30% will say Ok let’s give the lady or gent a try then bide their time to see us climb the table before telling us “I told you so”
    15 % won’t say anything.
    5% don’t know it’s Thursday .

Sobering statistics those. Sackings mid season don’t work

Sounds like they've already reached out to Crawley to take Scott Lindsay.

Does it let the players off the hook? Does the mindset creep in 'the Manager will be gone before me if this doesn't go well'.

I wonder if Parky got a bit more from some of the players as they knew he wasn't getting the sack and they'd be out of the door first.

Scott Lindsay? Not many would be happy with that

Honestly, these odd mean nothing. It's a few people betting a tenner that switches the odds around.

36-48 hours ago, Clemence was very short, now he's gone out. It's not like betting on Manchester United or something were mmillions are betting all over the country.

I did think an appointment would have been made by now.
Wonder if something is going on behind the scenes at the moment. Or perhaps we are after someone in work and negotiating a pay off

It did in 1996 when we got rid of Lawrence and appointed Kamara.

I haven't read the article yet but surely a multitude of manager sackings occur at the bottom end of the table... How many of those result in teams thought to be in danger actually staying up. But whatever that number, surely it skews the results if solely looking at promotions after a sacking/appointment.

IMG_5571.jpeg IMG_5572.jpeg IMG_5573.jpeg IMG_5574.jpeg Every manager that’s been mentioned has at some point been odds on or massive odds against at some point.
All these have been posted since Monday.
    These odds mean absolutely nothing.

The bookies like everyone on here have no idea.

    Can't disagree with that.

I'd still point out that a few people wanted Kev as manager, but 1 defeat later apparently it's a no go...

What I'm hoping to hear is something like "Ryan and Steffan invested considerable time to speak with several candidates who all presented a short, medium and long term plan and xxx was the person we felt best able to match to our goals and achieve promotion either this season or next"

I'm not convinced we'll get a statement like that but something similar would show a thorough process and good due diligence was conducted.

Yet 8 of the 12 promotion slots in the last 3 seasons of League Two have gone to a team whos manager is no longer than 15 months into the job and 5 of those teams installed the new manager that summer.

Jason's blog also doesn't say how many failed to achieve their aim whilst sticking with the same manager or indeed how much ground those new managers that were deemed as "failed" would have had to make up due to the previous poor results that led to the sacking.

It's weird how you can push your own narratives with well chosen statistics.
