    No I’m not suggesting we lost deliberately but I am suggesting that some players might not have given 100%.
    It was chalk and cheese from the recent performances and was inexplicable.
    Either that or most of the squad are just plain and simple not good enough.
    Currently only Bobby Pointon is meeting the required levels to play for this club.

    From a well respected source, 'Further down the Football League, the potential to earn bonus becomes more significant and it is not unusual to see bonus packages that could potentially earn a player an additional 25-50% of his basic salary, particularly if a club is promoted'. So you are suggesting that players will give up on potential bonus payments because of a possible new manager? They also have to add to their CV for future contracts. Under performing will damage their potential. If you have a shred of evidence then please share it, otherwise this is one dreamed up on the spur of the moment with nothing to substantiate it.

    If we go through last night's team...

    Lewis - L2 standard but not in great form
    Halliday - L2 standard and very decent for this level
    Stubbs - L2 standard but needs a pacy defender
    Taylor - non-league really
    Ridehalgh - L2 solid but not top level
    Gilliead - L2 standard has the fitness to compete
    McDonald - not got the fitness to compete in L2
    Osedabe - probably non-league
    Pointon - great prospect, looks at home in L2 already
    Wilson - not L2 standard yet, showed some potential
    Cook - clearly injured, couldn't do the press expected of him

    That, imo, was a pretty weak team.

    We've invested in a squad of 30, so we aren't affected by a couple of injuries, suspensions and loss of form.
    It's not gone well.

    I don't know if there was a change in recruitment strategy in the summer.
    Wilson, Smith, Odour & Richards all look long term projects on long term deals.
    The loans haven't been good enough.
    The upshot is we're going with a similar team to last season but Cook & Lewis are definitely not in the same form.

    We were badly hit in midfield last night with Smallwood Walker and Pattison all missing and Mac and Chapman lacking fitness. Having 5 midfielders missing even out of a Squad of thirty would weaken. With Walker and Smallwood in I doubt Payne would have got anywhere near the space he had

    4/1 favourite in a managers betting list, suggests the bookies have as much idea as the rest of us.

    The club doing very well keeping their cards close to their chests with no apparent leaks

    I think we all hurt! Thankfully l didn’t travel down, but l am going on Saturday. A lot of us put a great deal of time, money, and emotional input into following City.
    There are a lot of issues with the team, recruitment, balance but l can’t see players forgoing money because of a potential new manager. More likely they will want to impress so they get appearance money and potential win bonuses.
    Tuesday was dreadful, but perhaps for other reasons rather than a simple lack of effort.
