We weren’t lucky. We deserved the win. Just about. Some very good bits, some less so, but the areas of concern were mainly down to things that can be worked on as fitness and understanding builds.

 

Chuffed to bits. If we defend THAT badly, a clean sheet every game will do me. They are a decent side who made the running 75% or so of last season, at home, hoping to impress a new boss and we BEAT em. What the hell is wrong with people. It’s early days and fitness will improve as will the experience of the coaching staff.

Well done to the lot of them I say.

 

O'Connor interviewed on ifollow sounded a sensible guy. Him and McGowan at the back could be a bruising combination!

Second half he did well. After Doyle came on, we retained the ball well and Whalley saw much less of the ball, so Chicksen was less isolated against him.

We rode our luck at times them hitting the woodwork twice but we had chances second have to have put the game to bed,
Very physical plenty of crosses into the box, as you say Whalley is an excelent crosser of a ball, we can only get better the more games we play together.

Bang on the money. We looked a different team after Doyle replaced Riley who offered nothing on the right midfield. Chicksen had a very good game and Payne is different gravy. Miller is all effort but by heck that miss is a contender for miss of the season.

 

We did ride our luck on numerous occasions. They hit the bar twice and from one of those the ball came back out and the follow up was skied. But at the other end we scored, hit the post and missed a sitter

 

The offside one or a different one?

 

I'm in both camps. We played well in certain areas but we were a bit lucky too.
Fitness in the early season heat could decide the league positions at the end of the season.
The teams that are fittest will get early points and we need to work harder.
I'm glad I'm not a pro footballer because to win is awfully hard work..

TBF he put a shift in and created our goal, but yes it was a bad miss (It was offside though) Impressed with him myself.
