Was it as bad as Blackpool Dave, the 5-0 defeat there when the players downed tools was awful. Didn’t go today so I can’t compare with the Blackpool game.

 

If Hughes had defended the performance, then I agree with you. In fairness he seemed more annoyed than us. And fair play to him for not throwing the players under the bus. They now owe him and he knows it.

We had many appalling performances under Parky - but he made sure we bounced back. And in fairness Hughes has been almost as good as him and certainly the best since Parky left at 'bouncebackability'

I reckon this has come as a big shock to him. No-one likes a pasting, but it might concentrate a few minds. I don't think there is a big issue with the squad - it just needs sorting.

 

Good shout!! That was definitely the start of a year's worth of terrible results. Let's hope it doesn't go that way!!

 

We can’t keep using the Jewell example as a reason to keep every bad manager.

hughes failed last year and the signs have been worrying after another pre-season. He’s losing more fans by the week and there is no way back.

either we sack him now and give ourselves a chance to turn things around or we dither to October and leave ourselves an insurmountable task

 

I can't wait for his post match interview and how he explains that performance away, as you say not just the odd problem the whole team didn't look confident in what Hughes is asking them to do, for me he has problems getting this squad into believing his system is the correct way to get results.

 

We'll learn a lot about the team and Hughes next week against Crewe. They'll either curl up into a ball or come out fighting. Massive indicator of character next week.

I remember the start of 98/99 well. Good performances but poor results particularly early on against Birmingham and Bolton if my memory serves. Always an indicator of better times ahead.

I don't even want to consider the highlighted otherwise I agree 100%, something has got to give and if Hughes is to turn it around (doesn't this sound daft 4 games in) he has to accept these players may not be up to his expectations and he may need to go back to the drawing board he'll be one brave man to persist with it in our next home game.

What needs improving? Defence, midfield and attack

 

I'll be honest, my appetite for watching Bradford city is really waining. It's not that I'm after a positive result every week but I am after a positive display and some rembrance of entertainment

Agree, the captain of the team attitude is awful and in the second half another so called captain material Stubbs was also awful.

 

I honestly couldn’t grasp why they all applauded songo when he came over to take a corner, and then again when he was subbed. Absolutely baffling

Manager and fans with a soft underbelly. We’ll never go anywhere as long as we are nice, a crying shame it’s took us so many years to realise this. If we had the bollocks to appoint a mean bastard such as Evans or Harris, we’d be at least League one by now

Expected us to lose at least 2-0 but didn't think we would be that awful. Cook got bullied all game, might have touched the ball once or twice. Defensive shambles any time the ball came up the pitch. Smallwood absolutely shocking, has to be benched immediately. He is past it, he'll deliver one or two good balls in to the box a game and that's it. Can't turn a man and passes it back first time to whoever supplies it to him. We actually got forward a lot more after he came off, Pointon actually got the ball moving.

Feel for Pattison and Odour, the only players that look like they've played football before. I think Pattison was all of us when Smith managed that horrendous attempt on goal, then couldn't play a simple through ball a few minutes later.

I think Adams knew all he had to do was press us in midfield and we'd pass it back to a CB, who then has to thread a ball with the accuracy of KDB for us to get anywhere up the pitch (1/20 this works). So then the ball comes back, we shit ourselves against a lone striker, rinse and repeat.

I thought we looked good against Colchester but it's quite apparent they're shit. Curious to see how we do against Crewe
