I love the way some of our fans are now on a mission to show that Hughes is crap and we're doomed. This time last year we'd had that naive showing against Doncaster and Barrow and were just about to get our 'null points' from our 4th match at Colchester. Meaning we had 4 points from 4 matches.

Give us a positive spin on that will you

Yeah he’s normally not that bad, that said he was a far better player than commentator imo and would get stuck if he wasn’t who he is. He’s no Morais that’s for certain.

 

I'd be very disappointed if as you say we weren't frustrated with tonight's out come, we certainly had the two best goal scoring chances but didn't take them overall a fair result IMO.

 

Not sure what was worse, Jones or the other fella with his constant KEYRONG Kelly calls.

 

And “Patterson” instead of “Pattison”. Does my head in!

Some perspective really is required here. We have just come away with a point from a VERY decent team. I was speaking to a Stockport fan on the way to the ground and he said they absolutely battered Walsall on Saturday, only to be sucker punched and come away with nothing. Yes cookie missed the penalty and 1-on-1 but shit happens. With the waves of pressure they were putting on us, I was convinced we were going to concede another. I will repeat what I said after the Colchester game - last season we would’ve cracked and lost it

So called "tactics" that were moaned about when Bowyer, McCall and Adams were in charge. It's a L2 mindset - that is managed by been tough and no-nonsense in defence and midfield, i.e. Stevenage last season.

We could be like Mansfield, attack attack and attack and end up 8th. Or 9th like we did in 2008/9.

It always astonishes me that fans take no notice of what division we're in or what tactics work. Remember, Orient and Stevenage scored no more goals than we did last season - showing that this 'control the game on the front foot for 90 minutes' is fantasy at this level.[/QUOTE]
Whilst I agree with most of your posts I have to say how much I hate the sitting back we seem to do in just about every second half. I don’t think it’s about tactics it’s more about attitude keep what we have got. In my opinion it cost us the tie with Carlisle in the play offs and on several occasions before. I could understand if we were trying to catch teams on the break but the whole team sits in its negative and counter productive.

Tough match tonight. Stockport soon got a grip on the game after the first few minutes and were well in the ascendancy and had some good chances.

Half way through the first half we seemed to wrestle things back and we had our best spell of the game between 25 and 45 mins.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first and our goal was well deserved at that point I felt. But we quickly lost grip on the game after that and it was all Stockport for most of the second half, quite relentless and it was only a matter of time before they scored. Madden in particular missed a golden opportunity before the goal when you’d have put your mortgage on it hitting the back of the net.

Once they scored it was a bit to and fro for the last 10 mins and could have gone either way.

Blatant penalty for the foul on Pattison but I knew Cook would miss. He always goes to the keeper’s right so any keeper worth his salt just knew that if he dived that way he’d have a chance of saving it. A predictable outcome.

A shame for the heavy touch when Cook was through - he would have scored it last year. Whilst Cook has got a few early assists this year, he needs a goal himself.

All in all you’d take a point on the balance of play, but we were poor for long spells and Hughes has much work to do.

Can't believe Cook has put on another couple of stone since kick off.

He'd have scored those if he was thin like, er, last season or sommat.

 

I think Hughes was hinting in his post match interview that Walker's injury could be long term. If so we need to step up search forvplayers

 

Don't know if he's still doing it but Jones was coaching the u16's.

 

He’ll be 25 stone by 5.15 on Saturday if he doesn’t score again.

 

The hoops don’t do anyone any favours, but I’ve got to say he certainly seems less mobile so far this season.

 

At the start of last season Cook came back much fitter and leaner and got the benefit of it. Don’t think he looks overweight this time but like a few others he doesn’t seem up to full fitness
