Provided he's not a starter then I don't see an issue with him being a squad player. Maybe given the last 15 minutes of a game.

 

Embarrassing but predictable response. Giily was far from our worst player last season and we can't have 18 starters - we need good squad players and AG deserves to included in this.
You need to give your head a shake calling our players shite, so are some of our supporters at times

 

Very pleased with this he has transformed into a decent defensive midfielder. He might not be a guaranteed starter but Hughes likes him so I am sure he will get plenty of game time

Good move to sign him up. Wouldn’t expect him to start but has plenty of experience and can cover a number of positions in midfield and even RB if needed. Players like AG and Odour who can provide cover in various positions are key if we want to build a squad with good quality and less quantity. They cover various positions which means we don’t need as many squad players and can focus budget on higher quality, more expansive players.

Whatever you think of the lad chances are he'll have played over 200 games for us by the time his contract is up for renewal. Have to respect that amount of appearances.

 

Read what Hughes says he really rates him I think he will get plenty of game time including starts

 

If he was 31/32 he might accept that he's been downgraded to a squad player but at 27 and at the peak of his career, I just don't see that being the case. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him continuing to start most games.

 

If he does, I predict that Hughes will be gone before January due to learning absolutely nothing and us churning out the same turgid performances.

Therein lies the problem. It's alright for the poster's who are saying they're glad he's re-signed as
a good squad player, but we all know he'll be a starter under Hughes. East came in for him last season away
at Salford and had a really good game, next game he was dropped and AG back in!
He is as weak as pish in that midfield role, can't tackle, easily knocked off the ball and doesn't do anything
with conviction whatsoever when in possession towards the opposing goal. The bottom line is He lacks self-belief
and after the amount of games he's had here, he isn't suddenly gonna find it now.
Oh I forgot he runs around a lot!
