every football players absolutely loves being a party pooper. I'd rather not rely on the orient game

 

Do Champions just become a poor team when they win the league. I have Orient down as our toughest opponents in the run in. I'm sure Stockport do too

 

I don't buy this notion that people have about the champions (or champions elect) taking their foot off the gas

It isn't professional, or fair to those fans trekking 200 miles to watch them. As a fan, i'd be so pissed off if my team rolled over

Only recently (2015 I think?) Bristol City came to VP with the title sewn up and still smashed us 6-0

It is totally in our own hands, no way can we rely on others

 

Hi there, Swindon fan here.
We are very poor at the moment and also very boring. Our style of play has fans wanting to bring a book to games. We have a lot of possession, but most of that is along the back line as we endlessly go from side to side. We don't attack with pace, we don't cross and we don't shoot. We had one shot on target the entire game against Barrow and that came in the 90th minute. The atmosphere is flat, Jody Morris is as boring to listen to as his style of play and the players just look like they're going through the motions.
Since Morris has arrived we have got progressively worse and in 30 years of watching Swindon, this is the most bored I've ever been. We don't look like winning another game, so really you should beat us. If you score first it'll be game over. Morris' 'tactical changes' are always like for like and change nothing at all, so I would expect Hughes to out tactic him.
Honestly, things are so bad, if we hadn't amassed the points earlier in the season we would be in relegation trouble.
We want Morris out, as he's out of his depth, clueless and dire. I hope you don't get bored to death watching this game and your team entertain you. As for us, we'll be falling asleep. There is ZERO entertainment on offer for us Town fans.

They are the best team in the division by some distance. That said, a team that will already likely be champions will definitely not play with the same intensity as a team fighting for a result, that's just human nature when the result has no significance to your overall standing.

 

They don't become a poor side, however they do become less motivated as their goal has been achieved.

Think of it as a 100m sprinter who is easing up as they cross the line.

 

I understand your viewpoint but contracts are to be played, bonuses, pride, maybe club records and whatever else. I feel a relaxed champion team in town is not the ideal opponent.

That said, we will sow up promotion at Crewe.... Well I'm hoping

 

Flip side, they may not play with the intensity you state RT but also play with freedom. Assuming we need a positive result, our own pressures may (may I add) be our hindrance on the day.

 

Anyhow why we writing them up as champions. We can still overhaul them if they lose the next 5 and we win the next 5. It could be a championship showdown....

 

Thats fair comment mate. I'd just rather play them with them not having anything to play for.

Crikey... That's not a great place to be. I noted Morris called out your fans as immature when they booed against Harrogate, early in the game. That's just daft and I can understand the frustration of your lot.
Hopefully you guys turn it around, well, after a good drubbing tonight.

 

Has Jody Morris been to the school of Derek Adams and Gary Bowyer? Sounds like he is a graduate.

 

If Orient have already won the league then the winning stakes arent as high. It becomes a dead rubber to them. Fringe and youth could be given a chance.

Case in point, Fulham were already champions and were battered 4-0 by Sheff Utd on the final day last season.

 

two recentish examples of this,

town 5 years back were assured a PO berth but not autos so swapped out a B team against Birmingham. BCFC won that game and it kept them up, think this result caused a bit of an upset with the relegated teams so a change of the rules were made in regards to changing the team.

Scunthrope after being relegated gave the youth a chance and rolled over 7-0 which is exactly the score Bristol rovers needed on the final day to go up via autos!

they drew that game 0-0 with 1 shot on target...

Scunthorpe were absolutely dire. I think we should have put 5 or 6 past them when we played them, infact Harrogate put 6 past them earlier in the season. I just think the gulf between whatever teams that were put out that day would have resulted a similar result, I mean they have just falled through the National League and are in the National League North next season.
