    Northampton 4th vs Mansfield 8th
    Stevenage 3rd vs Crewe 17th
    Sutton 9th vs Grimsby 16th
    Walsall 14th vs Swindon 12th

Also Newport vs Wimbledon, but that one doesn't really affect us.

Northampton have played the same number of games as us and are 1 point ahead, so in theory Mansfield getting a point is a great result. Mansfield have played 2 games less than us, and in theory could overtake us, so we don't want them winning either.

Stevenage just beat Walsall at home and will probably fancy beating the other draw specialists Crewe... if they do, I'm not sure we'll catch them despite their recent wobble.

Sutton could pull to within a point of us if they beat Grimsby, but will have played 2 more, while if Swindon lose or draw, I think the play offs are over for them for this season.

    Pretty important.

Main one at the minute is Stevenage. If Crewe can get a point there, that would be ace.

Then next key outcome is a Northampton-Mansfield draw! Second best outcome, Mansfield win. Worst outcome, Northampton win.

    But yeah.

Not much we can do about other team's results, but it's still a big day out of the office!

True! We do never know what is round the corner though, fingers crossed for some meltdown for either Stevenage or Carlisle!

Personally would love a draw between Mansfield and Northampton too!

Need to get a win on Saturday. Stevenage, Northampton, Stockport and Salford all seem to have no consistent form at all at the moment, all also have a tougher March than us. Crewe are unbeaten in 7 and just beat Salford so wouldn't be surprised if they took something from that game. Wouldn't mind Grimsby stopping Sutton too to slow down the outside pack.

Hartlepool have 3 draws in the 3 games since they sacked Curle against Walsall, Tranmere and Northampton and have scored in every game. They wont be coming to VP and sitting back, they need the points especially with Orient coming in their next game after us. Teams who want to be open seem to suit us.

If we keep on our PPG from the last 8 games then it's irrelevant what others do.
    We will go up.
We are on 2.13 at the moment.
Keep this up and we will get third maybe 2nd.
The others around us playing eachother dictates this

It’s not so much about other teams it’s what we do. We need to fix the home form if we do we have a great chance if we don’t and we carry on at home as we have done so far it’s irrelevant what others do

No need to worry, Stevenage are already in meltdown. One poster described Evans reign as "abject failure".

Won't be long now. 5 games and we'll be above them.

Did they? To be honest I agree with that sentiment! 2 wins in their last five.. compared to our 3 wins and two draws! 6 vs 11 isn't good numbers no matter which way you look at it! if that carries on we will over take them soon enough

abject failure? hmm i guess Stevenage had games in hand to get top of the league but then didn't win in 5? just a guess!

as an aside you are quite the WUM arent you? :joy:

Agree, no point in hoping teams around or above us taking points from each other if we don't take maximum points from our next two home games.

@JonButterfield@JonButterfield what is it with you concentrating on others.

Concentrate on what we do. Doesn’t matter about others!

We all know we need to win our own games, why do people need to keep pointing this out?

    Weird.

If you don't want to know what the other results are, there are plenty of other threads for ya.

I fancy Mansfield more than Northampton as the latter is in the worst form, by some distance, of any of the Top 9

That's just rubbish. We're not some marathon runners, where the effort we put in 100% dictates the results.

If we get Stevenage winning their next three (after tonight) and we win our next three - then we would be above Carlisle.

On the other hand Stevenage could win two of the three, but if Carlisle beat them - then even if we win our next three we'd still be behind both teams.

    Clearly, other results do matter.

Mansfield losing has done us good we are a couple of points clear in the play offs now.

Stevenage winning is a bit annoying as its put a gap between the play offs and the autos but as @banbrotam@banbrotam said they've got a really tricky run of games now so a few draws and losses for them will do us good!

    Decent set of results.

I like the idea of Swindon and Sutton - more or less been out of the play-off picture when we play OR needing to win against us, i.e. opening the game up.

Stevenage's run in, is a dream compared to Carlisle. Not only do they play 8 of their 9 rivals - but have to go to Gillingham as well. Plus a cumbrian derby away match at Barrow.

2nd to 8th is still all very very possible. Extra squeaky bum time!!!!
